Two buildings, two entirely different problems. Inside, the hall's light is fixed: one colour, one level, unchanged between the first reading and the last, with nothing in it under our control. That sounds like a limitation but works out closer to a gift, because exposure gets settled at the door and is then left alone all morning. An Aldershot country estate after sundown holds no light at all beyond what somebody carried through the door.
The Guru Granth Sahib decides the geometry of the room, and a camera obeys it. We keep to the edges and to the rear, on foot, with no tripod anywhere near the floor. Morning and evening are best treated as two separate jobs divided by a drive, since that is their true cost in kit, in setting up, and in the hour that no schedule ever allocates.

By the doli the day has moved to a car park lit hard from one side only.
