The short answer

Your Asian wedding photographer in Aldershot, at a glance

Kaushik Bathia has photographed Asian weddings across Hampshire for over twenty five years, and couples in Aldershot choose him for calm, knowledgeable coverage of every tradition, backed by five European Gold awards. We work discreetly around the priest, the granthi or the imam, never intruding on a sacred moment. Whether your wedding in Aldershot is Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim, Tamil or a fusion of traditions, we know the order of each faith's rituals and cover the whole celebration. Over a thousand celebrations have taught us when to step in close and when to stand quietly back. You can add a second photographer, a female photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Hampshire and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.

Serving Aldershot

Capturing Asian Weddings in Aldershot and Hampshire

Aldershot is a Hampshire garrison town with a Nepalese and South Asian community. Whether your ceremony is in a temple, a gurdwara or a hotel ballroom, we are comfortable photographing right across Farnborough, Ash and Fleet and beyond. From the kanyadaan to the saptapadi, or the first laav to the last, the ceremony tells its own story and we follow it.

The mehndi and sangeet are where families let go, so we shoot loose and candid there, catching the laughter, the songs and the henna drying on open hands. We move quietly through the day, capturing the real moments rather than staging them. We photograph the elders and the children as closely as the couple, because a wedding is the whole family gathered, not just the two people at the centre.

We travel throughout Hampshire for temple, gurdwara and mosque ceremonies, and Aldershot, a Hampshire garrison town with a Nepalese and South Asian community, is one we know well. We also photograph in nearby Southampton and Portsmouth. We are at home at Aldershot-area venues such as Northbrook Park and Froyle Park.

Aldershot is a Hampshire garrison town known as the Home of the British Army with a large Nepalese Gurkha community. Aldershot railway station is served by South Western Railway on lines towards Guildford and Ascot. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Manor Park, a landscaped park with lakes and gardens close to the town centre, with The Wellington Statue, a large equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington on Round Hill close by for a striking backdrop.

Every tradition

Respecting the Temple, the Gurdwara and the Mosque

At a Gujarati mandap we know the hastamelap and the four mangal pheras, and we photograph them in the order your priest keeps rather than a generic script. The garland exchange, when the couple meet with the jaimala, is a moment of pure joy we love to photograph. At the gurdwara, the couple's walk around the Guru Granth Sahib during each laav is captured with reverence.

At the milni the two families meet and embrace, garlands are exchanged and the elders greet one another, and we record the warmth of that first joining. A sangeet belongs to the family, all rehearsed dances and gentle teasing, and we keep pace with its energy late into the night. The dhol player sets the pulse of the baraat, and we work close to the drum and the dancers so the picture carries the sound within it.

The whole celebration

One day or many in Aldershot

Early events reveal the people behind the wedding, so we spend the haldi and sangeet learning who matters, which helps every later frame feel like it belongs to you. Before anyone is dressed, the house is full of quiet moments worth keeping, and we move through them gently, letting parents and grandparents be exactly as they are.

We always recommend a little time for couple portraits, often at golden hour, away from the bustle. Between the ceremony and the reception there is often a great deal of waiting, and we use that time well, gathering portraits and quiet family moments while the room resets.

Good to know

Wedding photography in Aldershot, frequently asked questions

Yes. Alongside your album we provide an online gallery of your edited images, which you can share easily with family whether they are near Aldershot or overseas. Relatives who could not attend the wedding can then see the day and, where you wish, order their own prints.

We certainly do. The dhol, the dancing and the groom's arrival, and the milni as the two families meet, are among our favourite moments to photograph, and we capture every bit of their energy.

Yes. From the dignity of the nikah, the signing of the contract and the giving of the mehr to the warmth of the walima, we photograph it all, working respectfully within your family's customs and arranging additional photographers in Aldershot where events are held separately.

Yes, we are comfortable photographing at temples and are happy to travel to Aldershot for a ceremony there. We take the time to understand the customs of the particular mandir, so we can work respectfully within its rules while still recording the day fully for you.

We are. We understand the significance of the muhurtham timing and the tying of the thali, along with the surrounding customs that make a Tamil ceremony distinct. This familiarity means we are ready at the right moment, so the images reflect the true weight of each ritual.

Experience is the answer. After more than a thousand weddings, we read the pace of an Asian day instinctively, moving ahead of the action rather than chasing it. A second photographer covers a different angle at busy moments, so nothing important slips past unrecorded.

Being London-based, we reach Aldershot and the towns around it easily, and the journey is a familiar one. What you get is a widely experienced Asian wedding specialist, at home with every tradition, who knows the venues of the area and travels to you without fuss.
