A celebration that occupies most of a week is a logistics job wearing a photography job's clothes. Every building resets the problem: a front room at home in Lightwater, a hall with strip lighting, a hotel suite in Surrey Heath with heavy curtains and lamps at knee height. None of them behaves like the last one, and nothing carries over except the people. What survives all of it is a way of working, not a lighting setup.
The pictures most often lost are the ones in between. Nobody books coverage for a corridor, for the car, for the hour when everybody changes clothes, and that hour is where families relax enough to be themselves. We travel to Camberley from Northwood and would rather be told the whole shape of the week at booking, gaps included.
