At a Sikh wedding the exchange of garlands and the palla placed in the couple's hands begin the Anand Karaj, and we follow from the very first hymn.

The mehndi or henna night is intimate and detailed, and we photograph both the henna and the laughter around it. The groom may arrive on horseback, by car or on foot, and whichever way he comes, we are ready for the procession and the dancing around him. The bhangra and the dancing carry the reception late into the night, and we stay for all of it.
