From maiyan to doli

The langar that follows the ceremony, shared by the whole sangat, is a moment of community we capture with warmth. At the heart of a Sikh wedding is the Anand Karaj, the blissful union performed before the Guru Granth Sahib. As the ragis sing each laav, the couple walk slowly around the Guru Granth Sahib, and we photograph it quietly from the side.

The pre-wedding events are often where the most natural photographs come from, and we give them full attention. We photograph the bridal preparations with a gentle, unobtrusive eye. The day often opens early with kirtan in the gurdwara, and we are there for it.
