We pace ourselves deliberately across a long day, so the eye behind the camera is as sharp at the doli as it was at the maiyan. Mechanical noise has no place in a darbar hall, so our cameras are set to silent before we enter and stay that way until the last ardas has been said. From the choora at dawn to the doli at dusk
As each laav is sung, you rise and walk the circle together, and we hold our position so the palla, the bowed heads and the listening families all sit clearly in the frames. Garlands are exchanged before the laavan begin, and we frame the jaimala with both mothers in the background, because their faces at that moment usually tell the story better than the couple's. Down in the langar hall we photograph the meal being served and shared, the volunteers, the children and the sense of community that finishes a Sikh wedding morning so well.
Salami and shagun envelopes pass hand to hand through several of the events, and we photograph the giving, because those exchanges are how a Punjabi family says what it does not say aloud. The gana, the red thread tied at the wrist before the wedding, is a small ritual we always make sure to photograph, because the details carry the story as much as the big moments. The mehndi evening moves at its own gentle pace, and we photograph the trays of sweets, the green and gold of the outfits and the anticipation building through the songs.

We do, in the form of a booking fee that reserves your date exclusively and is credited against your final total. Once it is settled, any other request for that day is turned down, no questions asked. The rest is payable just before the wedding, with everything captured in a simple written agreement so neither side is in any doubt. This applies across Windsor and Eton, Datchet and Old Windsor.
The milni ranks among our favourite moments of the morning. As relatives come forward pair by pair to swap garlands and embraces, we record the formal gesture together with the laughter around it, not forgetting the good-natured lifting contests that tend to break out.
