The mehndi evening moves at its own gentle pace, and we photograph the henna, the music and the anticipation building as the family counts down to the ceremony. Reception entrances are announced, lit and over in seconds, so we agree beforehand which door you come through and stand ready, rather than turning around as the room begins to cheer. Baraats run late more often than not, and rather than lose the group photographs to it, we suggest moving those to straight after the ceremony when everyone is already gathered. The main day runs from the baraat to the vidaai, and we plan our coverage around the rituals rather than the clock.
