Haldi belongs to a bedroom, and bedrooms fight back: wardrobe mirrors, a made bed, and one wall with a window that is usually the only clean background going, so the whole morning gets worked from a single corner. Mehndi asks for a different patience. A hand stays put for hours while the artist's own torch burns as the hardest source anywhere near it, and we either smother that light or borrow it. Garba and sangeet finish on choreography, so we learn where each dance lands its final beat.

A baraat comes at you head on, which turns the family into a wall of shoulders. Working its flank rather than its front keeps faces in shot. Few positions, long glass, soft feet. We settle into two or three spots and stay in them rather than circling, which means guests stop tracking us within minutes and the family stops registering us at all.
