The short answer

Your Muslim wedding photographer in Ascot, at a glance

If you are looking for a Muslim wedding photographer for Ascot, Kaushik Bathia brings twenty five years, more than a thousand celebrations and a calm, unobtrusive way of working to your nikah. Every stage of the day is anticipated rather than chased, because knowing that the dua follows the signing means being in place before the moment arrives. Both families get attention, the groom's sehra bandi and the arrival of the baraat, then the nikah, the rukhsati and the walima, so a Ascot wedding reads as one continuous story. Couples often tell us the day felt calmer with us in it, which after twenty five years is the compliment we value most. Bookings are held with a fee that comes off the balance, terms are written down plainly, and travel arrangements for Berkshire are agreed before anything is signed.

Weddings in Ascot are often kept on a single site, so a nikah at the Macdonald Berystede Hotel or Coworth Park often runs straight into the walima later the same day. The qazi leads the khutbah, the ijab and qabool are given, and the nikah-nama is signed with two witnesses. Cameras are lowered for Quranic recitation. Between the two events, Windsor Great Park sits just north of the town and gives a portrait session before the rukhsati that needs almost no direction.

Serving Ascot

Your nikah in Ascot, beautifully told

Ascot is a Berkshire town famous for its racecourse and grand venues. We spend much of the year inside the mosques and banqueting venues of Berkshire, so the sites near Windsor, Sunninghill and Bracknell rarely hold any surprises for us. Many nikahs open with a recitation from the Qur'an, and we photograph the concentration on the faces of the two families as they listen.

During the nikah we photograph the ijab and qubool discreetly, staying back as the imam leads, so the offer and acceptance are recorded without a camera ever intruding on the moment. Our documentary style means the day is followed rather than staged, so your photographs show the wedding as it truly happened, the tears, the laughter and the quiet duas alike. Elders get their own attention. Grandparents seated at the side of the nikah rarely reach the dance floor, so we make sure they are photographed properly while the room is still calm.

We treat Ascot as one of our regular patches. Ascot is a Berkshire town famous for its racecourse and grand venues, and we move easily between it, Sandhurst and Thatcham. Ascot and the towns around it offer venues such as Coworth Park, Macdonald Berystede Hotel and Ascot Racecourse.

Ascot is a Berkshire town best known for Ascot Racecourse, which was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 and hosts the annual Royal Ascot meeting. Ascot railway station has direct South Western Railway services from London Waterloo and sits close to Windsor Great Park. When there is time for couple portraits, Windsor Great Park and the Savill Garden, just north of the town is a favourite, and Ascot Racecourse makes a memorable setting.

What we offer

What is included in your Ascot Muslim wedding coverage

01

Ring Exchange

The rings placed on the couple's hands, whether at the mangni or the nikah, photographed quietly among the parents and elders who lead the moment.

02

Mixed-faith Weddings

Where a nikah sits alongside another tradition, we plan coverage across both ceremonies, giving each its full weight and both families an album they recognise.

03

Kodak Gold Awards

Five European Kodak Gold awards sit behind our work, earned across decades of weddings, so the standard of your photographs is proven rather than promised.

Every Muslim ritual

Following the ceremony from khutbah to dua

Once the acceptance has been given three times, as many families ask, we photograph each repetition rather than assuming the first will be the one worth keeping. Bangladeshi families often build the ceremony around a longer, more elaborate seating of the couple, and knowing that in advance changes where we stand before the first word is spoken. Mahr is sometimes a sum written into the contract and sometimes a ring, a Qur'an or gold placed into the bride's hands, and we photograph whichever form your families have agreed.

Entrances at the walima are stage-managed, announced and applauded, and they happen once. We are set for it well beforehand, with the doors, the walk and the reaction all planned for. Keeping close to the drumming through the dholki, we photograph the hands on the dhol and the affection the family pours into the singing. Dholki nights around Ascot tend to run long and loud, and we pace ourselves with them, photographing the singing, the boliyan and the drum passed from hand to hand.

The whole celebration

Mehndi, dholki, nikah and walima under one booking

Booking coverage from the preparations rather than the ceremony roughly doubles the emotional range of an album, and couples who skip it are the ones who most often say they wish they had not. Trays of sweets, pots of food and the last-minute cooking that fills a house on a wedding morning are part of your family's story, and they photograph as well as anything in the hall.

The evening brings its own energy, with speeches, music and the cutting of the cake, and we stay through it so both halves of the day are complete. The greeting of guests, the receiving line and the first sitting of the couple are covered so the album shows how the day welcomed everyone in.

Why choose us

At ease during the nikah and on the dance floor

Knowing the whole arc of the celebrations, from the mehndi night to the rukhsati, means we are in position before each moment arrives rather than chasing it once it has passed. Having photographed Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Arab, Somali and Turkish weddings, we have learned not to assume. The order of events, the role of the wakeel and the shape of the day vary enormously.

Two venues on one day is normal at a Muslim wedding, and we map the drive between the ceremony and the walima hall in Berkshire in advance so the coverage never simply stops. We are based in London but photograph weddings nationwide, so reaching your mosque and walima venue in Berkshire is a routine part of our week.

Where we travel

Glad to travel for a walima anywhere in Berkshire

Multi-day Muslim weddings need a photographer who has managed the logistics before, and we bring that experience to every booking in Berkshire. We arrive ahead of schedule as a rule, scouting the mosque entrance for the baraat and the hall for the evening before anyone needs us.

Good to know

Wedding photography in Ascot, frequently asked questions

Yes. We carry full public liability and professional indemnity insurance, and we are happy to send the certificate to your mosque or venue in Ascot before the day. Many venues now ask for it as standard. It is one of the quiet markers of a long-established professional rather than a hobbyist with a good camera.

Both, in the right measure. The nikah, the signing and the emotion of the rukhsati are photographed candidly as they happen, because staging them would spoil them. Then we set aside short windows for relaxed couple portraits and the family groups your parents will want. Most couples find that their favourite images turn out to be the unposed ones. Ascot is easy to reach: Ascot railway station has direct South Western Railway services from London Waterloo and sits close to Windsor Great Park.

They can, and it is one of the loveliest parts of the job. Smaller parent albums can be produced alongside your main one, and once the gallery is live, relatives here and abroad can order prints of the images they love. Grandparents overseas often end up with their own set within weeks of the wedding. For outdoor photographs in Ascot we often use Windsor Great Park and the Savill Garden, just north of the town.

Muslim weddings rarely keep to a tidy clock, so we plan around your real schedule rather than a rigid number of hours. A full day usually runs from the bridal preparations through the nikah, the signing and the family portraits, then on to the walima. If timings drift, as they often do, we simply stay with the day. In and around Ascot that has included Coworth Park and Macdonald Berystede Hotel.

Yes. Your gallery includes full high-resolution downloads with personal printing rights, so you can freely make prints, frames and gifts for the family. We are glad to point you towards labs that will do the colours of the outfits justice. There is no drip-feeding of files and no paying again for your own photographs. We cover Ascot and nearby Sunningdale, Virginia Water and Bagshot.

Very happily; dhol players make for some of our best pictures. We speak with them before the groom's procession so we know when the big moments are coming, then position ourselves to catch the drumming, the dancing and the reactions together. Energy of that kind almost photographs itself; we simply stay close and let the arrival unfold. Ascot landmarks we photograph near include Ascot Racecourse.

Many couples add one, and we often fold it into a wedding package at a friendly rate. It is a relaxed hour or two somewhere you love, in Berkshire or a little further out, and it eases you both in front of the camera before the main events. The images work beautifully for invitations, welcome boards and a signing frame. Outdoors in Ascot we like Windsor Great Park and the Savill Garden, just north of the town.
