Hasta melap joins your hands beneath the cloth, and the frame we want is level with the hands rather than looking down on them, so we drop low for that part of the ritual. Kanyadaan belongs to the parents as much as to the couple, so one frame holds the joined hands and another the father's face, because the two together tell what the ritual costs. When the doli or the car pulls away, the family left standing in the road is the picture nobody thinks to ask for, and it is often the most honest of the whole day.
We photograph the sangeet as a full evening, the arrivals, the dinner, the performances and the open floor, so the whole arc of the night is there to look back on. During the haldi we keep close for the mess and the laughter, photographing the turmeric handprints and the affection as everyone takes their turn to bless you. We photograph the reception entrance as a highlight, the announcement, the walk in and the cheer from the room as you arrive to celebrate with everyone you love.

A sangeet night is one of our favourite things to cover, full of choreographed dances, laughter and generations sharing the same floor. Two sides getting ready at once cannot be covered by one camera, and a second photographer is a straightforward addition to a booking if you want both halves of the morning.
The morning baraat sets the pace, and we carry that momentum through the mandap and into the evening so the story never sags. Baraats run late more often than not, and rather than lose the group photographs to it, we suggest moving those to straight after the ceremony when everyone is already gathered.

We offer engagement shoots partly so we know each other before the wedding; by the day itself we already understand how you move and where you are most comfortable. The one photograph a family cannot replace is usually of an elder no longer with them, and long experience has made us deliberate about photographing every generation who is present.
