Redhill railway station is a major interchange on the Brighton Main Line, the North Downs Line and the Redhill to Tonbridge line, close to the M25 at junction 8. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Priory Park in neighbouring Reigate, with St John's Church, Redhill, with its tall spire close by for a striking backdrop.

As the priest recites the vows of the hastamelap, we frame the joined hands and the binding cloth closely, letting the ritual speak for itself without any staging from us. The saptapadi is where your promises are spoken step by step, and we photograph each of the seven with enough space that the vows are never crowded out of the frame. During the ganesh puja that opens the ceremony, we stay quiet and low, photographing the priest, the offerings and the small gestures of the family as the day is blessed.

The pithi is intimate and full of teasing, and we photograph the closeness of it, the cousins with paste on their hands and the laughter that fills the room. We photograph the reception entrance as a highlight, the announcement, the walk in and the cheer from the room as you arrive to celebrate with everyone you love. We photograph the sangeet as a full evening, the arrivals, the dinner, the performances and the open floor, so the whole arc of the night is there to look back on.
