For couples marrying in Southampton, Kaushik Bathia offers award winning Asian wedding photography, with more than twenty five years of experience across every tradition and over a thousand weddings behind the camera. We treat the gurdwara, the mandir and the mosque with the respect each deserves, dressing and moving to suit the space and its customs. We photograph every Asian wedding tradition in Southampton, from the Hindu mandap and pheras to the Sikh Anand Karaj, the Muslim nikah and the Tamil muhurtham, across multi day celebrations. We have stood quietly beside the sacred fire, walked the gurdwara with the couple and waited for the thali to be tied, so nothing about your ceremony is unfamiliar. A second photographer for the busiest days, a female photographer where needed and beautiful fine art albums are all part of what we offer, and we travel throughout Hampshire for your wedding.

Considered Asian Wedding Photography for Couples in Southampton

Southampton is a south-coast city with a diverse community. We travel throughout Hampshire for Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings, and Eastleigh, Totton and Hedge End are all familiar to us. The garland exchange, when the couple meet with the jaimala, is a moment of pure joy we love to photograph.

We arrive knowing the difference between a Gujarati pithi and a Punjabi maiyan, so nobody has to stop and explain their own traditions to us on the day. When the baraat arrives with drums and dancing we are in the thick of it, moving with the crowd so the welcome looks and feels exactly as loud as it was. For the vidaai we hold back and let the emotion be what it is, photographing the goodbyes gently rather than crowding a moment that belongs to the family.

Southampton is a south-coast city with a diverse community, and we love photographing Asian weddings here and across the Home Counties. We regularly cover nearby Portsmouth and Basingstoke as well. Local wedding venues we know near Southampton include Southampton Harbour Hotel, Novotel Southampton and Hilton at the Ageas Bowl.

Southampton is a major port city on the south coast of Hampshire and the historic departure point of the Titanic. Southampton Central railway station is on the South Western Main Line from London Waterloo. For relaxed couple photographs, we like Southampton Common, a large expanse of open parkland and woodland north of the city centre, and The Bargate, a medieval gatehouse that was once the main entrance to the walled town gives the day a strong sense of Southampton.

Every tradition

From the mandap to the gurdwara and the nikah

At a Gujarati mandap we know the hastamelap and the four mangal pheras, and we photograph them in the order your priest keeps rather than a generic script. At the gurdwara, the couple's walk around the Guru Granth Sahib during each laav is captured with reverence. The garland exchange, when bride and groom raise the jaimala over one another, releases the first great cheer of the day, and we catch it as it breaks.

The dhol player sets the pulse of the baraat, and we work close to the drum and the dancers so the picture carries the sound within it. From the turmeric of the haldi to the music of the sangeet, the events set the tone for the wedding. The farewell, when the bride leaves her family, is the most tender moment of many Asian weddings.

The whole celebration

Your celebration in Southampton, day by day

A garba fills the room with movement, and we photograph the sway of it without asking anyone to pause, letting the colour and the circles of dancing lead the frame. We can join you for a single event or follow the whole journey from the very first ritual.

The best galleries are spread evenly across the day, not saved for the ceremony alone. We think about the whole arc of the day before it starts, mapping the light, the venues and the meals so nothing important is rushed and nothing quiet is missed.

Why choose us

The right photographer for your Southampton wedding

More than a thousand celebrations sit behind us, and that depth means we recognise the mangalsutra moment, the fourth laav or the signing of the nikah before it arrives. We have worked in temples, gurdwaras and mosques the length of the country, and that range means your venue and its customs hold no surprises for us.

We would rather arrive early and wait than keep you waiting, so we allow generous time for the drive to and around Hampshire. From London we reach Southampton easily, and we know the venues of Hampshire well.

As early as you comfortably can. Popular auspicious dates go quickly, and if your wedding is in Southampton on a busy weekend we would encourage you to enquire well ahead. Once your date is set, a booking secures it and lets us begin planning your coverage properly.

Always. Backup cameras, lenses and memory cards come with us to every Southampton wedding, and we back up your images on the day as we go, so your photographs are safe. Twenty-five years and over a thousand weddings have made being ready for anything second nature.

Our approach is documentary at heart. We follow the day as it happens, recording the rituals, the emotion and the small in-between moments rather than interrupting them. We will guide you gently for family groups and a few portraits, but the story of the day is told honestly.

We have photographed Asian weddings for more than 25 years, across over a thousand celebrations of every tradition, and that experience shows in how calmly we work. We know the rituals, we respect each faith, and our documentary style gives you honest photographs that feel like your day, not a template.
