The short answer
An award winning, London based Asian wedding photographer, Kaushik Bathia has spent more than twenty five years photographing Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings in East Ham and across Greater London. We treat the gurdwara, the mandir and the mosque with the respect each deserves, dressing and moving to suit the space and its customs. From the mehndi and sangeet to the baraat, the ceremony and the reception, we photograph every part of an Asian wedding in and around East Ham with knowledge and care. We know the rhythm of a mandap, a gurdwara and a nikah alike, so the sacred moments are always captured. You can add a second photographer, a female photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Greater London and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.
Serving East Ham
East Ham is an east London area with a large South Asian community and many banqueting halls. Couples come to us from across London and the surrounding area, and Forest Gate, Plaistow and Manor Park are firmly on our patch. The garland exchange, when bride and groom raise the jaimala over one another, releases the first great cheer of the day, and we catch it as it breaks.
We capture the emotion of the day honestly, from the laughter of the sangeet to the tears of the farewell. We shoot the getting-ready hours as a story of anticipation, from the jewellery going on to the last look in the mirror before the ceremony. We arrive knowing the difference between a Gujarati pithi and a Punjabi maiyan, so nobody has to stop and explain their own traditions to us on the day.
We know East Ham, an east London area with a large South Asian community and many banqueting halls, and the surrounding part of Greater London well, having photographed Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings throughout Forest Gate, Plaistow and Manor Park. We are often in nearby Forest Gate and Tooting too. East Ham and the towns around it offer venues such as East Ham Town Hall, The Grove Banqueting and Crown Banqueting Suite, all familiar to us.
East Ham lies in the London Borough of Newham and is known for its diverse, largely South Asian community along High Street North. East Ham Underground station is served by the District and Hammersmith and City lines. When there is time for couple portraits, Central Park, one of the largest parks in East Ham is a favourite, and East Ham Town Hall, a Grade II listed civic building makes a memorable setting.

What we offer
Fine prints and framed art to bring your favourite images home.
The farewell carries some of the deepest feeling of the day, and we hold those final embraces with the quiet they deserve.
A second shooter lets us cover the bride and groom at once and hold two rooms of a busy day without gaps.
Every tradition
As the sindoor is applied and the mangalsutra tied, a Hindu marriage is complete, and we are ready for both of those small, fast gestures. We learn the sequence of your particular ceremony beforehand, so whether it is Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati or Tamil, we anticipate each ritual rather than chase it. The kanyadaan and the joining of hands at the mandap are photographed with quiet care.
The haldi or pithi is turmeric, colour and mischief in equal measure, and it often gives us the warmest and most unguarded frames of the whole wedding. We photograph the milni, when the two families meet, with all of its warmth. For Muslim families the walima is a generous celebration in its own right, and we cover it as fully as the nikah that precedes it.

The whole celebration
There is a particular kind of joy in a haldi, all warmth and yellow and gentle teasing, and we photograph it the way it actually happens, unhurried and honest. A multi-day Asian wedding can run across three or four days, and we plan our coverage around all of them.
We deliver a full day evenly, from the first ritual to the last song, so your album carries the real shape of the celebration rather than only its brightest half-hour. The hours after the ceremony often hold the warmest pictures, and we stay present through the lunch, the family visits and the slow gathering of energy toward the evening.
Why choose us
We bring the steadiness that only comes from photographing weddings for twenty-five years. We have built our reputation on reliability, warmth and a genuine love of the work.
Wherever your events take place across London and the surrounding area, we will be there in good time. We are glad to talk through your venues and the journeys between them when you first enquire, so the logistics are settled long before the day.

Where we travel
We cover the whole of the UK for Asian weddings, so wherever your family gathers, distance is never the reason to look elsewhere. We are London-based but rarely in London; much of our work takes us across London and the surrounding area.

Good to know
Sooner is better than later. As peak and auspicious dates fill up well ahead across every tradition, an early enquiry makes good sense. Share your wedding date and the events you have in mind, and we will confirm our availability right away.
The earlier the better. Sought-after auspicious dates go quickly, so for an East Ham wedding on a popular weekend an early enquiry is sensible. When your date is settled, a booking holds it for you and gives us the runway to plan your coverage properly.
Yes. Through the evening we capture the grand entrance, the speeches, the first dance and the bhangra of your East Ham reception, right down to the last guest on the floor. As the joyful finale of the celebration, the reception is photographed by us in all its energy and colour.
Certainly. Engagement and pre-wedding shoots are a lovely, low-pressure way to get used to the camera before your wedding day arrives, and many couples treasure the experience. Choose a location around East Ham that holds meaning for you, and we will happily arrange the session.
Absolutely. The mehndi, the haldi or pithi and the sangeet are often where the warmest, most natural moments occur, and we are delighted to cover them as part of your wedding. Many families ask us to follow the whole celebration from the very first event to the very last.
Absolutely, on hundreds of occasions. Dhol players, DJs, decorators and caterers are all part of the Asian wedding world we work in, and we know how to weave around them without treading on toes. When everyone cooperates well, the day runs beautifully and we are always ready for the next moment.
Experience is the answer. After more than a thousand weddings, we read the pace of an Asian day instinctively, moving ahead of the action rather than chasing it. A second photographer covers a different angle at busy moments, so nothing important slips past unrecorded.
