The answer differs by household even inside one tradition.

What differs most between two households is rarely the ritual. It is the tempo. One family runs to a printed order of service and hits every line of it. Another opens ninety minutes past the stated time and would not describe that as late. Both are normal. We plan for either by turning up early, keeping the kit light enough to move at short notice, and never quoting a finish we cannot honour.

Hand-bound, printed on heavy stock. We sequence them, then you argue with the sequence until it reads correctly, which is a process worth its irritation. One substantial book beats a set of thin ones.
