The short answer
An award winning, London based Asian wedding photographer, Kaushik Bathia has spent more than twenty five years photographing Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings in Telford and across Shropshire. We document each event as it happens, so your gallery feels true to the day you lived. Whether your wedding in Telford is Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim, Tamil or a fusion of traditions, we know the order of each faith's rituals and cover the whole celebration. We have spent twenty-five years learning the detail of Asian weddings, and it shows in every gallery. You can add a second photographer, a female photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Shropshire and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.
Serving Telford
Telford is a Shropshire new town with banqueting venues. We photograph Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings throughout Wellington, Madeley and Newport and the surrounding towns. For Tamil and South Indian families, the muhurtham and the tying of the thali are the sacred centre of the ceremony.
We move quietly through the day, capturing the real moments rather than staging them. We work quietly through the sacred parts and lift the energy for the baraat, reading each moment as it comes rather than pulling you out of it for set-up shots. We are a reassuring, familiar presence, so everyone relaxes and the day flows naturally.
Telford is a Shropshire new town with banqueting venues, and we know its venues and its approaches well from photographing Asian weddings here over many years. We are often just along the road in Lichfield and Shrewsbury too. Local wedding venues we know near Telford include Telford International Centre, The Telford Hotel and Golf Resort and Davenport House.
Telford is a Shropshire new town created in the 1960s and named after the engineer Thomas Telford. Telford Central railway station links to Birmingham and Shrewsbury, with the M54 running through the town. When there is time for couple portraits, Telford Town Park and the wooded slopes of the Ironbridge Gorge is a favourite, and The Iron Bridge at Ironbridge, the world's first major cast iron bridge, in the nearby Ironbridge Gorge makes a memorable setting.

Every tradition
A nikah turns on the giving of consent, the mehr and the signing of the contract, and we record each with the dignity the occasion carries. At a Gujarati mandap we know the hastamelap and the four mangal pheras, and we photograph them in the order your priest keeps rather than a generic script. The blessings of parents and elders draw many ceremonies to a close, hands resting on heads in benediction, and we hold those tender moments gently.
The mehndi night, the sangeet and the haldi each carry their own mood, and we photograph them all. The farewell, when the bride leaves her family, is the most tender moment of many Asian weddings. For Muslim families the walima is a generous celebration in its own right, and we cover it as fully as the nikah that precedes it.

The whole celebration
The days before the wedding often hold the most relaxed, candid moments of the whole celebration. Garba and dandiya call for a photographer who can keep up, so we stay inside the rhythm of the dancing rather than watching politely from the edge of the floor.
The wedding day itself is a journey, from the groom's arrival and the milni to the vows and the reception. The reception has its own tempo, softer at first and then loud, and we read that shift so the speeches, the first dance and the late-night floor all feel complete.
Why choose us
Couples choose us for our calm, experienced presence and our knowledge of every tradition's rituals. You want a photographer who reads the day instinctively, and instinct like that is simply what twenty-five years of Asian weddings leaves behind.
We are used to celebrations spread across several venues, and keep the day flowing between them. When your ceremony and reception sit in different towns across Wellington, Madeley and Newport, we map the day in advance so no minute of coverage is lost in transit.

Where we travel
We cover the Midlands and beyond, and are glad to travel further afield on request. Reaching your temple, gurdwara, mosque, mehndi and reception is our concern, not yours, wherever across the region they happen to fall.

Good to know
Yes. Many Asian weddings run across several days, from the mehndi and sangeet through to the main ceremony and reception, and we are happy to cover the full sequence in Telford. We agree the schedule with you in advance so nothing important is missed, and a second photographer joins for the busier days.
We photograph Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Punjabi, Muslim, Tamil and mixed-faith weddings. We are familiar with the rituals and the order of events of each, so nothing catches us off guard.
Yes. We photograph the nikah and walima with care for the customs of the day, working discreetly during the signing of the contract and the exchange of vows. Where the celebration is segregated, we can arrange a female photographer so guests feel entirely comfortable throughout.
Very well. We recognise the key stages under the mandap, including the kanyadaan, the joining of hands, the pheras around the sacred fire and the sindoor. Because we anticipate these moments rather than react to them, your photographs feel calm and natural rather than staged.
Yes, right to the end. We stay through the evening at your Telford reception, capturing the grand entrance, the speeches, the first dance and the bhangra, down to the last guest on the floor. It is the joyful finale, and we photograph all of its energy and colour.
Being London-based, we reach Telford and the towns around it easily, and the journey is a familiar one. What you get is a widely experienced Asian wedding specialist, at home with every tradition, who knows the venues of the area and travels to you without fuss.
Yes. Every image we deliver is edited by hand for colour, tone and consistency across the days, and we retouch our selected portraits with a light, natural touch. We aim for photographs that look timeless rather than heavily processed, so they age well in your album.
