Local families
A festive portrait without crossing London, close enough to fit around the day's cooking.

Festive family portraits a few minutes from home, at the studio on the Joel Street parade or in your own Northwood living room.
The short answer
In Northwood itself: the studio is at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, HA6 1NU, on the parade beside Northwood Hills station, and for families who would rather stay in, we come to your home anywhere in Northwood. A Diwali sitting is a guided family portrait session in your festive clothes, with smaller groups after the main picture. Diwali 2026 is on Sunday 8 November, so October is the time for greeting images and the festival week for pictures of the celebration. Phone or WhatsApp 07956 505383 to ask about times.
We have been to Kaushik’s studio over many years for photos for passport renewals. He is very professional and has always taken the best pictures. We booked a family session recently and he did an amazing job and put us at ease for the portrait shots. Beautiful and artistic photos. We are very pleased with them. We would highly recommend his services.
Amazing experience with Kaushik Bathia photography. Professionalism and picture quality are top notch. My wife is extremely impressed with the pictures and we received them right on time for the holidays.
…Kaushik has photographed our family on a number of occasions, and the experience has always been fantastic. Not only is the time that he spends with us very enjoyable, it is also a very relaxed experience as Kaushik manages to take phenomenal photos of you and your family in your everyday environment. Therefore, the photos always look very natural and relaxed.
On the day
Being local helps on a festival day. Families can come dressed from home, have the portraits taken and be back in time for guests, without a long journey in silk and heavy jewellery.
We start with the whole group, then each household, then the grandparents with the grandchildren. Directions are simple and the pace is set by the youngest person there, so nobody feels rushed.

At home
Many of the strongest Diwali pictures happen at the front door and around the family shrine: the diyas lit along the step or windowsill, the rangoli finished that afternoon, the family gathered for the puja. A home session in Northwood records all of that as it really is.
Evening light suits the lamps, so many families choose a time just after dark. Tell us when the puja starts, and the session can begin a little before it so the group portraits are done while everyone is fresh.

Timing
With Diwali on Sunday 8 November 2026, the weekends of October and the first week of November are the natural times for a studio session. Greeting images for WhatsApp or printed cards need a few days for choosing and editing, so allow for that when picking a date.
Around Northwood
The studio is on the Joel Street parade by Northwood Hills station, a few steps from the Metroland mural on the station bridge. From the older side of Northwood, Northwood station is one stop up the Metropolitan line, and the 282, 331 and H11 buses link both ends of the area.
Parking is close by, which helps when grandparents are joining or there are bags of outfits to bring. For a home session, we come to you anywhere in Northwood, Northwood Hills and the streets in between.
