The short answer
Your wedding photographer in Banbury, at a glance
An award winning, London based wedding photographer, Kaushik Bathia has spent more than twenty five years photographing weddings, and travels to Banbury and right across Oxfordshire. First dances are usually lit by whatever the DJ has, so we bounce a small light off a ceiling or a side wall rather than firing directly at you and flattening the room. We cover every kind of wedding in Banbury, from church, civil and register office ceremonies to country houses, barns, marquees, hotels and garden venues, as well as multicultural and fusion celebrations. London and Northwood are where we are based, and being award-winning has never made a venue easier to work in; reading the room on arrival still does most of the work. You can add an engagement shoot, a second photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Oxfordshire and beyond, so wherever your day is held it is well within reach.
Banbury Cross stands at the centre of the town and is the frame most couples marrying here want, so it is worth taking early while the streets are quieter rather than fighting Saturday traffic for it. This is a market town on the River Cherwell, famous also for Banbury cakes, and Spiceball Park beside the Cherwell and the Oxford Canal puts water, towpath and greenery within walking distance of the centre. The Great Barn at Aynho and Tinkers Barn Estate are barn venues whose interiors run dark and warm toned, which needs careful colour work if skin is to stay natural, while Mercure Banbury Whately Hall Hotel offers a more conventional set of rooms. Junction 11 of the M40 lies just east and the station serves the Chiltern Main Line, with Bloxham, Adderbury and Deddington close enough for a village church and a town reception.

The licence, not the light, picks your ceremony room for you. That much is settled before you ever walk into it, and whatever the room offers is what we work with: a function suite, a panelled parlour in a country house, or one small window sited at the wrong end. Nothing in our bags alters that, so the plan absorbs it and the flexibility gets spent elsewhere in the day.
Registrars are not identical, and one telephone call settles which sort you have drawn. A few are happy for a camera to keep working throughout. Others want it still and at the back. Some ask for stillness while the legal words are said. Get that answer written down before your timings are agreed, because it governs our position through the one stretch of the day that cannot be staged twice.

From church to country house in Banbury
A stone church is a tall, cool, low-light room with a narrow aisle, and how much a photographer may move about in it is settled by whoever takes the service. Ask them, then tell us. Country house grounds are sold by the acre and paid for in walking time, so portraits down by the water spend twenty minutes of your reception getting there and back. A hotel trades the other way: everything sits within a corridor of everything else, and the ballroom is lit for conferences.
Group lists are what couples underplan. Eight groups is fifteen minutes when somebody who knows the family is calling the names; sixteen groups eats the drinks reception and the queue starts noticing. Write the list early, keep it short, appoint a caller. A receiving line achieves most of that with fewer instructions. Speeches want a seat chosen for the listeners rather than the speaker, and a first dance wants light we have brought ourselves.

Why choose us
Why couples in Banbury choose us
Mostly because we say what we will do and then do it. You get a plan you can read weeks beforehand, two people who have already settled between them who covers what, and an edit that is not left queueing behind a season of other weddings. We are quiet inside the room and quick outside it.

Good to know
Wedding photography in Banbury, frequently asked questions
Almost everyone tells us that, and it wears off within the hour. Early on we stay well back, work with longer glass than most, and give you nobody to perform for. Once we do come close in Banbury, the lens has stopped registering.
Something always fails eventually, so nothing is allowed to matter. A camera dies, the spare comes off the shoulder, and the only person who notices is us. There is no moment in your day that depends on one battery, one card or one particular lens working.
Yes. A deposit holds the date, then the balance splits into instalments across the months beforehand, on dates you pick when booking. Nobody gets asked for a lump sum in the last fortnight, and every one of those dates is written into your contract.
We do, working from your favourites rather than ours. You mark the frames that have to be in it, we build a first sequence around those, and then you move anything you want moved. It is not finished until you say so.
Yes, and Oxfordshire is a direction we drive often enough for it to be routine. Travel to you is written into the booking, not bolted on later, and where a Banbury morning starts early we would rather leave absurdly early than arrive on the hour.
