Banbury is a market town on the River Cherwell, famous for the Banbury Cross nursery rhyme and for Banbury cakes. Banbury station is on the Chiltern Main Line and the Cherwell Valley Line, and junction 11 of the M40 lies just east of the town. We often take couples to Spiceball Park, the riverside park beside the Cherwell and the Oxford Canal for a few quiet portraits, and Banbury Cross, the stone monument at the centre of the town is a lovely backdrop nearby.

The blessings of parents and elders draw many ceremonies to a close, hands resting on heads in benediction, and we hold those tender moments gently. We are mindful of every family's customs at the ceremony, and photograph them exactly as they happen. We work in the background of the priest, the granthi or the imam, reading their rhythm so the ceremony flows without a photographer in the way.

For Gujarati families the garba and the raas fill the evening with colour and movement, and we love photographing them. The groom may arrive on horseback, by car or on foot, and whichever way he comes, we are ready for the procession and the dancing around him. The sangeet is an evening of music and rehearsed dance, and we capture all of its energy.
