Through the day we keep watching for reactions, a parent during the vows or friends laughing on the seafront, because those unguarded moments are what you will look back on. A Brighton wedding might mean a ceremony at Brighton Town Hall, vows at the seafront Bandstand between April and September, a celebration at the Royal Pavilion or a hotel on the front, and whatever your traditions, we photograph the whole day as it happens. If something goes wrong, a car held up in city traffic or a missing buttonhole, we help sort it quietly rather than adding to the stress. Engagement shoots, a second photographer for busier days and fine art albums are all part of what we offer.
Regency architecture and an inclusive culture make Brighton one of the more visually generous cities to photograph, and The Lanes, which follow the street pattern of the original fishing village, offer narrow streets where a couple can be photographed close without a crowd filling the background. The Royal Pavilion, remodelled by John Nash in the Indo-Saracenic style for the Prince of Wales, both hosts weddings and provides the city's most distinctive exterior, and its domes need a low viewpoint if they are to read properly. Preston Park, the city's largest urban park, with walled, rose and wildflower gardens, is where a bigger group becomes easier to handle. A licence, not a lighting plan, decided where your legal ceremony happens. The room came off a list of rooms holding one, and its windows were nobody's criterion. This is not a criticism of anybody, merely the constraint everyone here works inside. Ceremony pictures therefore get made from whatever the room already contains, and the parts you genuinely control, the portraits and the evening, deserve more planning than the ceremony ever will.
Brighton hands you a coast, a Regency city and a large public park. Wind is what you pay for it. An exposed aspect takes a veil straight upward and keeps it there, so we would sooner use a walled garden or a sheltered frontage and save the open ground for a still day. Which way it is blowing on the morning is a question worth putting to us.

From a couple and four guests to a full seafront celebration
Couples underestimate how much registrars differ. A few stand aside and let you work from anywhere in the room. Others fix a line nobody may cross and ask for no pictures during the vows themselves. Both are perfectly normal and neither shifts once the day starts, so we establish which you have while the rehearsal is still ahead and carry two plans. The legally binding stretch is brief either way; the day wrapped around it is not.
Scale changes method, never care. Twelve people in a small room is really a portrait session with a ceremony attached, and it can be done gently, at conversational pace. Three hundred guests is a logistics exercise: the group list printed, somebody who knows the faces standing beside us calling names, the whole sequence done in fifteen minutes on ground chosen the day before. Skip the list and those same pictures swallow an hour.
