The short answer
An award winning, London based wedding photographer, Kaushik Bathia has spent more than twenty five years photographing weddings in Hull and right across East Yorkshire. We read the light in each room and work with what the day gives us, favouring window light and shade over anything that draws attention to a camera. We cover every kind of wedding in Hull, from church, civil and register office ceremonies to country houses, barns, marquees, hotels and garden venues, as well as multicultural and fusion celebrations. Our awards reflect consistency rather than a single lucky frame; the same standard we are recognised for is the standard every couple receives. A second photographer, relaxed engagement shoots and hand finished fine art albums are all available, and we travel across East Yorkshire and the wider UK so distance is never a problem.
Serving Hull
Hull is a maritime city with a diverse community. From the register office in the morning to a banqueting hall or garden marquee by evening, we cover the venues of East Yorkshire in full, and Cottingham, Hessle and Beverley is well known to us. During the ceremony we work quietly with longer lenses, so whether you exchange vows in a church, a register office or a garden, we stay unobtrusive and miss nothing.
We work in available light wherever we can, adding a soft flash only when a dark room needs it, so the images stay true to how the evening looked. You will barely notice us for much of the day, and that is the point; the less we intrude, the more relaxed everyone stays in front of the lens. A relaxed portrait session is woven gently into the day, timed around the best light, so you get a short breather together and a few frames to keep forever.
We feel at home photographing weddings in Hull. Hull is a maritime city with a diverse community, and our work reaches out across the neighbouring towns of Middlesbrough and Newcastle upon Tyne and the county around them. Hull and the towns around it offer venues such as Carlton Manor, Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel and Lazaat Hotel, all familiar to us.
Hull, officially Kingston upon Hull, is a port city on the Humber Estuary in East Yorkshire and was UK City of Culture in 2017. Hull Paragon Interchange is the city's main railway station, served by trains from London King's Cross and Leeds. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as East Park, one of Hull's largest Victorian parks, with a boating lake and open lawns, with The Deep, a public aquarium on Sammy's Point where the River Hull meets the Humber close by for a striking backdrop.

What we offer
We photograph the day as it unfolds, watching for real moments rather than staging them, so your gallery feels honest.
We stay from the morning preparations through to the evening, so the whole story is there in one set.
We watch both the speaker and the table, so the laughter, the pauses and the quiet tears are all held.
Every kind of wedding
We understand how quickly a ceremony passes, so we prepare thoroughly beforehand and then let the day carry us, catching the vows as they land. The moment you are declared married deserves to be seen clearly, so we plan our angles in advance and hold steady when it arrives. Ceremonies rarely run to the second, so we stay alert throughout, ready for the moments that arrive early, run long or happen when least expected.
As the reception gathers pace, we keep moving, finding the hugs between old friends, the children on the dance floor and the quiet corners of joy. Long after the formal moments, guests keep giving you gifts of expression, and we stay alert through the evening for the hugs, the toasts and the goodbyes. We set aside a little time for portraits, walking with you somewhere quiet for a handful of relaxed frames that still feel like you.

The whole celebration
We build the timeline around the light as well as the schedule, so portraits and early moments fall when the day looks its most flattering. We tend to arrive while the flowers are still being set out, so the first frames show the day before anyone has touched it.
We keep an eye on the running order without letting it run us, which leaves room for the unplanned things that make the best pictures. We pace ourselves to the day, not the shot list, so the finished gallery moves naturally from the morning through to the party.
Why choose us
Trust is built on evidence, and between the awards, the albums and the long list of couples before you, there is plenty to reassure you before you book. The awards are nice to have, but the real reassurance is a thousand couples who let us photograph one of the most important days of their lives.
We come to you, wherever the day unfolds, and we are comfortable covering venues throughout East Yorkshire and the surrounding counties. Ceremony in one town and reception in another is a pattern we handle smoothly, planning the gap so the pictures never stop, whether that is within Cottingham, Hessle and Beverley or across East Yorkshire.

Where we travel
From preparations at home to a reception miles away, we keep pace across Cottingham, Hessle and Beverley and the wider East Yorkshire without missing a moment. It is no trouble at all for us to head out to Cottingham, Hessle and Beverley and the wider East Yorkshire, and we often do exactly that across the wedding season.

Good to know
We design the first draft for you, choosing and sequencing images so the album flows as a story rather than a random set of photos. You then review the proof and request changes until it feels right. Nothing is printed until you have approved the final design, so you stay in control of the outcome.
We offer engagement shoots and many couples find them a lovely warm-up before the wedding. It is a relaxed hour or two that lets us get to know one another, so you feel at ease in front of the camera on the day. The images are yours to use for save-the-dates or simply to enjoy.
You receive a private online gallery of high-resolution images, which you can view, download and share with family and friends from any device. The gallery includes full-size files suitable for printing. We keep a backup for a set period after delivery, so nothing is lost if you misplace your copies.
Yes. We carry professional lighting and fast lenses, so dark ceremony rooms, winter afternoons and evening receptions are all manageable. We know how to work in low light without flattening the mood of a room. You do not need to change your plans around the forecast or the season.
Price matters, of course, but the photographs will outlast the day itself, so style and trust should come first. Choose someone whose work genuinely moves you and who you feel comfortable with, then find a package that fits. Your wedding cannot be photographed again, so it is worth getting this one decision right.
Most couples choose full coverage from the morning preparations through to the first dance, all your edited high-resolution images, and a private online gallery to share with family and friends. You can add a second photographer, an engagement shoot, or one of our hand-finished fine-art albums. We will tailor the details to the day you have in mind.
Almost certainly. We photograph at every kind of venue, from country houses and barns to hotels, register offices and places of worship in and around Hull. If we have not worked there before we research the space and, where possible, visit or arrive early to read the light and plan the key shots.
