Hull is a maritime city with a diverse community. From the gurdwara to the reception, we keep the day flowing across venues throughout Cottingham, Hessle and Beverley. We are as at ease with a quiet family langar as we are with a reception of several hundred guests.

Our style is unobtrusive, so the darbar sahib stays a place of worship and never becomes a photoshoot. We follow your family's Sikh customs closely and photograph the sehra bandi and the palla exactly as you keep them. We capture the details too, the choora, the kaleere, the sehra and the palki, that make your Anand Karaj yours.

Much of our work takes us across East Yorkshire; Hull, a maritime city with a diverse community, and the towns around it, including Cottingham, Hessle and Beverley, are very familiar to us. We also cover nearby Middlesbrough and Newcastle upon Tyne. Venues we have photographed at near Hull include Carlton Manor, Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel and Lazaat Hotel.

Hull, officially Kingston upon Hull, is a port city on the Humber Estuary in East Yorkshire and was UK City of Culture in 2017. Hull Paragon Interchange is the city's main railway station, served by trains from London King's Cross and Leeds. For portraits away from the celebration, East Park, one of Hull's largest Victorian parks, with a boating lake and open lawns works beautifully, and The Deep, a public aquarium on Sammy's Point where the River Hull meets the Humber adds a real sense of place.

From milni to the four laavan

The kirtan and shabads that fill the gurdwara are as much a part of the story as the laavan themselves. For families holding a Sri Akhand Path, we photograph the continuous reading with quiet reverence. We are ready for the palla, when the bride's father places the sash in the couple's hands before the laavan.

We photograph the chunni ceremony and the giving of the choora, and the emotion that comes with them. We are glad to cover a single event or the whole multi-day celebration. The day often opens early with kirtan in the gurdwara, and we are there for it.
