We are a reassuring, familiar presence in the gurdwara, so the sangat relax and the day flows naturally. We are calm and unhurried, gathering the whole story of the Anand Karaj without ever getting in the way. We blend candid storytelling with a handful of timeless portraits taken away from the bustle of the gurdwara.

We often take couples to Cusworth Hall, a Georgian mansion set in landscaped parkland and gardens for a few quiet portraits, and Doncaster Minster, the Church of St George, a grand Gothic Revival building is a lovely backdrop nearby.

The langar that follows the ceremony, shared by the whole sangat, is a moment of community we capture with warmth. From the milni to the final ardaas, the Anand Karaj tells its own story, and we follow it closely. The exchange of garlands and the joy of the sangat around the couple are moments we love to photograph.

From the turmeric of the maiyan to the music of the jaggo, the events set the tone for the wedding. The reception is the joyful finale, with speeches, the first dance, bhangra and giddha. We capture the groom's arrival for the milni, surrounded by dancing family and the beat of the dhol.
