Mehndi is applied to the groom's hand too, usually a small dot and a great deal of teasing, and we make sure that moment sits in the album next to the bride's full patterns. We stay a step back for the doli, photographing the farewell without crowding it, so the weight of leaving home is held with the tenderness it deserves. Ghara gharoli sends the women out for water before the wedding, and we follow the pot, the singing and the return, since these small processions photograph far better than anyone expects.
