The short answer

Your Asian wedding photographer in Doncaster, at a glance

An award winning, London based Asian wedding photographer, Kaushik Bathia has spent more than twenty five years photographing Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings in Doncaster and across South Yorkshire. We make sure the families are in the story too, not just the couple. Multi day Asian weddings are a speciality in Doncaster, from the pre wedding events and the baraat to the ceremony and the reception, whatever your tradition. You want a photographer who reads the day instinctively, and instinct like that is simply what twenty-five years of Asian weddings leaves behind. A second photographer, a female photographer for segregated events and hand finished fine art albums are all available, and we travel across South Yorkshire and the wider UK so distance is never a problem.

Serving Doncaster

Telling your Asian wedding story in Doncaster

Doncaster is a South Yorkshire town with country venues. We know the venues of the North of England well, and move easily between the ceremony and reception across Bentley, Bessacarr and Armthorpe. From the kanyadaan to the saptapadi, or the first laav to the last, the ceremony tells its own story and we follow it.

We work discreetly around the priest, the granthi or the imam, never intruding on a sacred moment. We move quietly through the day, capturing the real moments rather than staging them. Our approach is relaxed and documentary, so you can be present in your own wedding.

Much of our work takes us across South Yorkshire; Doncaster, a South Yorkshire town with country venues, and the towns around it, including Bentley, Bessacarr and Armthorpe, are very familiar to us. We also cover nearby Sheffield and Rotherham. Close to Doncaster, we have worked at venues including Owston Hall, Hooton Pagnell Hall and Rossington Hall.

Doncaster is a South Yorkshire town, granted city status in 2022, known for its railway heritage and Doncaster Racecourse. Doncaster railway station is a principal stop on the East Coast Main Line, with the A1(M) and M18 nearby. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Cusworth Hall, a Georgian mansion set in landscaped parkland and gardens, with Doncaster Minster, the Church of St George, a grand Gothic Revival building close by for a striking backdrop.

What we offer

What is included in your Doncaster Asian wedding coverage

01

Hindu & Gujarati Weddings

At home with the mandap, the pheras, the pithi and the hastamelap.

02

Multi-Day Coverage

Mehndi, sangeet, ceremony and reception across several days, with second photographers for large events.

03

Every Tradition

Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim and Tamil ceremonies, with the rituals and rhythm of each understood.

Every tradition

Every Blessing, Every Vow, Every Farewell

For Gujarati families we know the hastamelap and the four mangal pheras and photograph each as you keep it. For Tamil and South Indian families, the muhurtham reaches its heart as the thali is tied, and we are in position for that single, defining second. At a Muslim nikah we photograph the vows, the mehr and the joyful moment the couple are declared married.

From the first event to the last, we tell the full story of the celebration. At the milni the two families meet and embrace, garlands are exchanged and the elders greet one another, and we record the warmth of that first joining. A sangeet belongs to the family, all rehearsed dances and gentle teasing, and we keep pace with its energy late into the night.

The whole celebration

Photographing the Long Arc of Your Celebration

As the bride's mehndi is drawn, time slows in the nicest way, and we use those hours to gather the softer portraits that a busy ceremony day rarely allows. We arrive in good time for each pre-wedding event and stay until the celebrations wind down.

We stay through the evening to capture the reception, from the grand entrance to the last dance. Long days test everyone, so we keep our footing calm and our timing steady, catching the guru's words, the shared glances and the quiet exhale once the vows are done.

Why choose us

Twenty-five years of Asian weddings

Families return to us, and recommend us, because we treat every ritual as it deserves. We bring the steadiness that only comes from photographing weddings for twenty-five years.

We are glad to talk through your venues and the journeys between them when you first enquire, so the logistics are settled long before the day. Whether your celebration keeps to one venue or ranges across the county, we carry backup equipment to every location so nothing is ever left to chance.

Wedding photography in Doncaster, frequently asked questions

Very much so. A mixed-faith wedding brings two sets of customs together, and we give each the attention and respect it deserves. We speak with both families beforehand to understand what matters most on either side, then plan the day so nobody feels their traditions were overlooked.

We photograph weddings across South Yorkshire and throughout the UK, so travelling to Doncaster is no trouble at all. We are based near London but regularly work well beyond it. Tell us your venue and date, and we will confirm everything, including any travel arrangements, in writing.

Yes. From the dignity of the nikah, the signing of the contract and the giving of the mehr to the warmth of the walima, we photograph it all, working respectfully within your family's customs and arranging additional photographers in Doncaster where events are held separately.

Yes. We photograph the nikah and walima with care for the customs of the day, working discreetly during the signing of the contract and the exchange of vows. Where the celebration is segregated, we can arrange a female photographer so guests feel entirely comfortable throughout.

We are. The muhurtham, the tying of the thali and the many other rituals of a Tamil or South Indian wedding are all part of our work, and we understand their early timings and the order in which they unfold.

Very. We photograph the vows and the sacred rituals from a respectful distance with quiet, long-lens work, whatever the tradition, so the ceremony is never disturbed. Our documentary style means the day feels like yours, and we are a calm, unobtrusive presence throughout.

Yes, and it is one of our favourite parts of the day. We capture the dhol, the dancing and the groom's arrival, and the milni as the two families meet, with all of its energy.
