Serving Rotherham

A Sikh wedding photographer for Rotherham

Rotherham is a South Yorkshire town with a diverse community. From the gurdwara to the reception, we keep the day flowing across venues throughout Sheffield, Maltby and Rawmarsh. From Rotherham we cover weddings right across South Yorkshire, at gurdwaras, hotels, marquees and banqueting suites.

We capture the details too, the choora, the kaleere, the sehra and the palki, that make your Anand Karaj yours. We photograph with warmth and respect, mindful of the meaning behind each shabad the ragis sing. We keep the calm of the kirtan and the exuberance of the reception in equal measure.

From our London base we travel across South Yorkshire for Sikh weddings, and Rotherham, a South Yorkshire town with a diverse community, is a familiar destination. We also photograph in nearby Doncaster and Sheffield. Rotherham and the towns around it offer venues such as Hellaby Hall, Aston Hall and Thrybergh Hall, all familiar to us.

Rotherham is a South Yorkshire town on the River Don with a diverse community and a long history in iron, steel and coal. Rotherham Central station is on the line between Sheffield and Doncaster, with the M1 and M18 close by. For portraits away from the celebration, Clifton Park, a Victorian park with a museum and formal gardens works beautifully, and Rotherham Minster, the medieval Church of All Saints in the town centre adds a real sense of place.

Every tradition

Every ritual, photographed with care

Heads covered and seated on the floor with the sangat, we photograph the laavan without ever intruding. We photograph the milni, the morning meeting of the two families, with all of its warmth and garlands. We keep our distance during the laavan and the prayers, and step in only for the joyful greetings.

The maiyan, when turmeric is applied, is full of colour and play, and often holds the warmest moments. We photograph the chunni ceremony and the giving of the choora, and the emotion that comes with them. We capture the lively milni as the two families meet, with the garlands, the dhol and the embraces.

The whole celebration

One day or many in Rotherham

The pre-wedding events often span several days, each with its own mood. The jaggo night brings an evening of music, dancing and candlelit pots before the wedding day itself.

We document the grand moments and the quiet ones in between, so nothing is lost. The wedding day itself is a journey, from the morning milni and the kirtan to the laavan and the doli.

Why choose us

Experience that shows in Rotherham

Experience means we are ready for the early gurdwara start, the milni and the precise order of the four laavan. Sikh families return to us, and recommend us, because we treat every laav and every ardaas as it deserves.

Reaching your gurdwara is simply part of how we work, and distance is never a barrier to covering the milni. Wherever your jaggo and your Anand Karaj take place across the North of England, we will be there in good time for the morning kirtan.

Where we travel

Easy to reach from London

We are London-based but rarely in London; much of our work takes us to the gurdwaras and jaggo nights of the North of England. Multi-venue Sikh days are never an issue; we plan the route from the gurdwara to the reception and the timings in advance.
