Inside the Gurdwara
Discreet coverage from the sides and back, heads covered, never turning from the Guru Granth Sahib.
Award-winning Sikh wedding photographer in Sheffield, from the tying of the sehra to the giving of the kaleere and the palki, with sensitivity, experience and hand-finished albums.
Serving Sheffield
Sheffield is a Yorkshire city with a diverse community and grand venues. We regularly photograph Sikh weddings throughout Rotherham, Chesterfield and Barnsley and the surrounding part of South Yorkshire. We know the local gurdwaras and their early-morning timings well, and plan the day around them.
We are at ease with large, multi-day Sikh celebrations and intimate gurdwara ceremonies alike. We move quietly around the darbar sahib, capturing the four laavan as they happen rather than staging them. We understand the etiquette of the gurdwara and the vegetarian langar, and photograph within it with genuine respect.
We travel throughout South Yorkshire for Anand Karaj ceremonies, and Sheffield, a Yorkshire city with a diverse community and grand venues, is one we know well. We also photograph in nearby Rotherham and Doncaster. Close to Sheffield, we have worked at venues including Cutlers' Hall, Bramall Lane and OEC Sheffield.
Sheffield is a South Yorkshire city famed for its steel and cutlery heritage, with more green space than most UK cities. Sheffield station is on the Midland Main Line, with the M1 skirting the eastern side of the city. We often take couples to Sheffield Botanical Gardens, 19 acres of gardens off Ecclesall Road for a few quiet portraits, and The Peace Gardens and the adjoining Sheffield Winter Garden glasshouse is a lovely backdrop nearby.

What we offer
Discreet coverage from the sides and back, heads covered, never turning from the Guru Granth Sahib.
The morning meeting of the two families, with garlands, the dhol and warm embraces, captured in full.
The music, the dancing and the candlelit pots of the jaggo, captured with all their energy.
Every tradition
Heads covered and seated on the floor with the sangat, we photograph the laavan without ever intruding. We photograph the milni, the morning meeting of the two families, with all of its warmth and garlands. The langar that follows the ceremony, shared by the whole sangat, is a moment of community we capture with warmth.
From the turmeric of the maiyan to the music of the jaggo, the events set the tone for the wedding. We photograph the chunni ceremony and the giving of the choora, and the emotion that comes with them. The mehndi is intimate and detailed, and we photograph both the henna and the laughter around it.

The whole celebration
Some couples keep an elaborate sequence of events; others a simpler one, and we shape coverage to yours. A celebration might open with the chunni ceremony, followed by the maiyan and the mehndi.
We stay through the evening to capture the reception, from the grand entrance to the last dance. The story often turns to the doli in the afternoon, before the energy of the evening reception.
Why choose us
Over a thousand celebrations have taught us when to step close for the milni and when to stand quietly back during the laavan. Years inside gurdwaras have taught us exactly how to photograph the Anand Karaj respectfully and unseen.
We cover the North of England and beyond for the darbar sahib and the reception, and are glad to travel further afield on request. From our London base, Sheffield and the gurdwaras of South Yorkshire are an easy, familiar journey.

Where we travel
We will travel to your gurdwara, your reception and your pre-wedding maiyan and mehndi, wherever they are held. We are glad to discuss your gurdwara, your reception venue and the journey between them when you enquire.

Good to know
Absolutely. The maiyan, mehndi and jaggo night are often where the warmest, most natural moments happen, and we are glad to cover them as part of your wedding.
Very. We photograph the four laavan and the prayers from a respectful distance with quiet, long-lens work, seated with the sangat, so the Anand Karaj is never disturbed.
Sikh wedding dates and popular gurdwaras book up well ahead, so we recommend enquiring as early as you can. Tell us your wedding date and we will confirm availability straight away.
