The short answer
Kaushik Bathia is an award winning wedding photographer based in London, photographing weddings in Nottingham and throughout Nottinghamshire for over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations. Our couple portraits are unhurried and easy; we find good light, give a little gentle guidance, then leave room for you to relax and be yourselves. From intimate register office ceremonies to grand country house weddings, and from village churches to garden and marquee celebrations, we photograph every kind of wedding in and around Nottingham. We have handled enough weddings to stay unflustered when a plan changes at short notice, keeping the mood light while we quietly work around it. Engagement shoots, a second photographer for busier days and beautiful fine art albums are all part of what we offer, and we travel throughout Nottinghamshire and the rest of the UK for your wedding.
Wollaton Hall, an Elizabethan house set in its own park, is why many couples choose to marry in this East Midlands city at all, and the deer herd and lake in Wollaton Park give three or four genuinely different backdrops within a single walk. Deer will not wait for a schedule, so that part of the day works best with time in hand. Goosedale, Colwick Hall Hotel and The Nottinghamshire are the reception options, spread across the city rather than clustered together. The lace making heritage and Robin Hood associations shape the centre's character more than they shape the photographs. Nottingham railway station is served by the Midland Main Line and East Midlands Railway, and the NET tram network helps guests from Wollaton, Sneinton and Arnold reach the day without driving.
Serving Nottingham
Nottingham is an East Midlands city with a diverse community and country-house venues. Plenty of our couples pick a country estate or a garden venue; others prefer a hotel or a village church. We follow every choice across Hyson Green, West Bridgford and Beeston and the rest of Nottinghamshire. We photograph civil ceremonies, religious services and humanist celebrations with the same care, honouring your traditions and the shape your day is meant to take.
We keep direction to a minimum, offering just enough for you to feel at ease in front of the lens while the honesty of the moment stays intact. We plan the timings with you beforehand, then let the day breathe on its own, photographing what unfolds rather than steering it toward a set list of shots. A relaxed portrait session is woven gently into the day, timed around the best light, so you get a short breather together and a few frames to keep forever.
For weddings in Nottingham we are on familiar ground. Nottingham is an East Midlands city with a diverse community and country-house venues, and our coverage naturally takes in the neighbouring areas, including Loughborough and Derby. Venues we are glad to photograph at near Nottingham include Goosedale, Colwick Hall Hotel and The Nottinghamshire.

For portraits away from the celebration, Wollaton Park, with its deer herd and lake around Wollaton Hall works beautifully, and Wollaton Hall, an Elizabethan house set in Wollaton Park adds a real sense of place.

What we offer
Quiet preparation hours carry real feeling, so we photograph the details, the nerves and the calm before you leave.
We are there while you get ready, catching the small details and the calm before the day opens up.
Our coverage options are set out plainly, so you can see what you are choosing without chasing hidden extras.
Every kind of wedding
From the walk down the aisle to the final blessing, we follow the ceremony as it happens, never staging a thing and never breaking its rhythm. Whether the setting is a grand nave or a simple garden marquee, we work with the available light and the sightlines to record the ceremony honestly. The registrar will usually explain their rules to us in the ten minutes before the ceremony, and we treat those rules as absolute rather than testing them once the doors close.
Between the ceremony and the meal, the drinks reception is where the day breathes, and we move through it gathering the warmth and the conversation. If speeches are before the meal, expect a calmer, sharper room and better photographs; after three courses and wine the reactions are warmer but the light is usually gone. Dance floors empty fast if the first dance runs past three minutes, so inviting the wedding party in halfway keeps the floor full and gives us a far livelier frame.

The whole celebration
A pre-wedding shoot in the weeks beforehand doubles as a rehearsal for the camera, so the getting ready on the day already feels comfortable and familiar. We like to reach the getting ready early, so we can settle in, meet the people around you and be part of the calm before things begin in earnest.
Golden hour in June falls around nine in the evening, well after the first dance, while in October it lands before the main course. We build the portrait slot around whichever applies. Dance floors photograph best in the first twenty minutes, while everyone is still on them, and we would rather cover that fully than stay until midnight for a thinning room.
Why choose us
Experience means we anticipate what is coming next, so we are ready for the tears during the vows and the laughter in the room before either arrives. After a quarter of a century of weddings, we stay calm when timings change, which they often do, and we adjust without any fuss reaching you or your guests.
Longer journeys and rural venues suit us well; we are glad to travel to every corner of Nottinghamshire and are glad to travel. We map out the driving and parking in advance for every wedding, so reaching venues around Hyson Green, West Bridgford and Beeston and across Nottinghamshire is smooth on the day.

Where we travel
Long journeys and remote settings suit us well, and weddings across Hyson Green, West Bridgford and Beeston and the further reaches of Nottinghamshire are all within easy reach. Across Nottinghamshire, we would ask you for the venue coordinator's contact details early, since a two-minute call about access saves considerably more time on the morning itself.

Good to know
Yes. We carry professional lighting and fast lenses, so dark ceremony rooms, winter afternoons and evening receptions are all manageable. We know how to work in low light without flattening the mood of a room. You do not need to change your plans around the forecast or the season. Open air sessions near Nottingham tend to use Wollaton Park, with its deer herd and lake around Wollaton Hall.
Yes, and we encourage it. We are happy to meet in person or over a video call to talk through your plans, your venues and the moments you most want captured. Meeting beforehand means you are working with familiar faces on the day itself, which helps everyone feel relaxed when the cameras come out. Around Nottingham we plan for landmarks such as Wollaton Hall, an Elizabethan house set in Wollaton Park.
Absolutely. Whether you are marrying with a handful of guests in Nottingham or hosting a large celebration, we bring the same care and attention. Smaller weddings often have a lovely closeness to them, and we adapt our coverage and hours to suit the scale of your day rather than applying a one-size approach.
For most couples the package covers the full day, morning preparations to first dance, every edited high-resolution image, and a private online gallery to pass around family and friends. From there you might add a second photographer, an engagement shoot or a hand-finished fine-art album. Whatever you picture for your Nottingham wedding, we adjust the details to suit.
Yes, more than most couples expect. After a quarter of a century and well over a thousand weddings, very little is unfamiliar to us, so we can anticipate what is about to happen and keep calm when the plan wanders. That steadiness is exactly what lets you relax and trust the day to safe hands. We cover Nottingham and nearby Wollaton, Sneinton and Arnold.
Circumstances change, and should you have to move the wedding, we will make every effort to fit in around your new date, availability permitting. Please give us as much notice as possible and we will do right by you. Understanding and flexibility matter a great deal to us, and we will stretch as far as we are able. For Nottingham bookings, getting here is simple: Nottingham railway station is served by the Midland Main Line and East Midlands Railway, with the NET tram network serving the wider city.
Yes. We photograph weddings right across Nottinghamshire and the surrounding counties, and further afield throughout the UK. Wherever your ceremony and reception are, and whether they share a venue or sit miles apart, we plan the logistics with you in advance so the timeline holds and no coverage is lost travelling between them.
