The short answer
Kaushik Bathia is an award winning wedding photographer based in London, photographing weddings in Plymouth and throughout Devon for over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations. We keep a low profile through the ceremony and speeches, using longer lenses from a distance so nobody feels watched and the real reactions come through. Church, civil, country house, barn, marquee or hotel, and every faith, culture and fusion celebration, we are equally at home photographing them all in Plymouth. Five European Gold awards sit alongside a quarter of a century of experience, so you can trust both the craft and the steadiness we bring to your day. You can add an engagement shoot, a second photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Devon and beyond, so wherever your day is held it is well within reach.
Serving Plymouth
Plymouth is a south-western port city with waterside venues. We photograph weddings at churches, register offices, country houses, barns and hotels across Devon, including Plympton, Plymstock and Saltash. From the moment the doors open to the confetti afterwards, we treat the ceremony as the heart of the day and photograph it with patience and care.
For portraits we give a little gentle guidance, then step back and let you be yourselves, which is where the natural, easy frames tend to happen. We favour natural light and genuine expression, keeping our presence light so guests forget the camera is there and simply enjoy themselves. We shoot loosely and instinctively, following the energy of the room, so the collection you receive moves at the same pace the day actually did.
We know Plymouth well and enjoy working here. Plymouth is a south-western port city with waterside venues, and our coverage extends naturally to the surrounding towns, Horsham and Exeter among them. In and around Plymouth, we have photographed at venues such as Boringdon Hall Hotel, Custom House and Ocean Studios.
Plymouth is a south-western port city on Devon's coast, known for its historic waterfront and maritime heritage overlooking Plymouth Sound. Plymouth railway station on North Road serves the city, with the current station building dating from 1962. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Plymouth Hoe, a grassed open space with promenades and panoramic views across Plymouth Sound, with Smeaton's Tower, the red and white lighthouse on Plymouth Hoe close by for a striking backdrop.

What we offer
Your online gallery lands soon after the day, ready to share with family who could not be in the room.
We anticipate the laughs, the tears and the first dance, keeping close to the action through the evening.
From a register office to a country house, we work with the space you have chosen and its own kind of light.
Every kind of wedding
We photograph civil ceremonies, religious services and humanist celebrations with the same care, honouring your traditions and the shape your day is meant to take. We photograph readings, rings and the signing of the register with a light hand, blending multicultural or fusion elements naturally when they are part of your day. The exchange of rings, the signing of the register and the walk back up the aisle all matter to us, and we cover each without asking you to pause.
Portraits with your family and closest friends matter, and we make time for them without letting the schedule stall or the day lose its momentum. We photograph the cake, the first dance and the evening party with an easy touch, so the celebration keeps its energy while we quietly gather the pictures. From the first arrivals to the send off, we photograph the reception as one continuous celebration rather than a series of items to tick off a list.

The whole celebration
Arriving early means we are ready when the unplanned things happen, the surprise visit, the last hug, the quiet minute alone before you leave for the venue. When a celebration runs over several days, we shape a plan that keeps our energy and yours steady, so the first day is as strong as the last.
Our approach is to document the day evenly and let it tell itself, so the gallery reads start to finish without gaps. We resist rushing, letting each part of the day have its own moment, so the story you keep is complete rather than a run of headline scenes.
Why choose us
Our work has been recognised with five European Gold awards, though what matters more on the day is that you can hand us the details and stop worrying. Having documented weddings across many cultures and styles, we arrive knowing the shape of a day and where its meaningful moments tend to gather.
Travel is simply part of the job for us, and a venue tucked away in Devon is one we will reach comfortably with time to spare. Getting to your venue is our responsibility, not yours, and we regularly cover weddings right across Devon and beyond.

Where we travel
Multi-location days, with a ceremony in one place and a reception in another, are something we plan carefully, whether that is within Plympton, Plymstock and Saltash or across Devon. You should never have to think about how we get there; reaching venues throughout Devon is something we quietly take care of.

Good to know
In more than twenty years we have never missed a wedding, but we take the risk seriously. We work within a trusted network of experienced professional photographers, so in a genuine emergency we can arrange skilled cover who shoots to our standard, and we still handle the editing of your images ourselves afterwards.
We carry professional backup cameras, lenses and lighting to every wedding, and we photograph to dual memory cards so images are written twice as we go. We also hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurance, which many venues ask to see. Nothing on a wedding day can be re-run, so this cover is not optional for us.
Yes, we ask for a booking fee when you confirm, which reserves your date in our diary and comes off your total balance. The remaining amount is then due a few weeks before the wedding. We will set everything out clearly in writing, so you always know exactly where you stand.
Yes, and we recommend them. A relaxed pre-wedding shoot lets us get to know each other, helps you feel comfortable in front of the camera and often calms any nerves about the wedding day itself. You also come away with lovely images you can use for save-the-dates or a guest sign-in book.
Yes, we travel across Devon and the wider UK, and we would be glad to photograph your wedding in Plymouth. We have worked at venues of every kind, from country houses to city hotels, so a new location is never a worry for us. Just let us know where you are marrying and we will be there.
Popular dates, especially summer Saturdays, tend to go twelve to eighteen months ahead, so earlier is safer. That said, it is always worth asking about shorter notice, as we sometimes have gaps around Plymouth. Once you are fairly sure of your date, a quick message to check availability costs nothing and saves disappointment later.
We know plans can change, so if you need to move your date we will always do our best to accommodate you, subject to our availability on the new day. Please let us know as soon as you can, and we will look after you. We aim to be as flexible and understanding as we possibly can.
