Around the sacred fire, the seven steps of the saptapadi bind a Hindu couple together, and we photograph each vow from close enough to feel its weight. We learn the sequence of your particular ceremony beforehand, so whether it is Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati or Tamil, we anticipate each ritual rather than chase it. At a Hindu wedding, the pheras around the sacred fire seal the marriage, and we capture them close.

When the reception loosens and the dance floor takes over, the bhangra runs late and joyful, and we stay for every last turn under the lights. The pre-wedding events are often where the most natural photographs come from, and we give them full attention. The mehndi or henna night is intimate and detailed, and we photograph both the henna and the laughter around it.
