Asian Wedding Photography Rooted in Sevenoaks

Sevenoaks is an affluent Kent town with grand estate venues. We travel throughout Tonbridge, Otford and Westerham for Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings, at home in temples, gurdwaras, mosques and banqueting suites alike. For Tamil and South Indian families, the muhurtham and the tying of the thali are the sacred centre of the ceremony.

We photograph the sacred and the joyful with equal care, the vows as faithfully as the bhangra. We cover both families equally, making sure the groom's side and the bride's side each come away with a full record of their own people and their own moments. During the pooja and the fire ceremony we work from the edges with longer lenses, keeping the priest, the flames and the vows undisturbed.

Much of our work takes us across Kent; Sevenoaks, an affluent Kent town with grand estate venues, and the towns around it, including Tonbridge, Otford and Westerham, are very familiar to us. We also cover nearby Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. Venues we know well in and near Sevenoaks include St Julians Club, Riverhill Himalayan Gardens and Squerryes Court.

Sevenoaks is an affluent Kent commuter town set close to the North Downs. Sevenoaks station runs Southeastern services to London Charing Cross in around 35 minutes, near the M25 and M26. When there is time for couple portraits, Knole Park, with over 1,000 acres of parkland and fallow deer is a favourite, and Knole, a National Trust house set in a medieval deer park makes a memorable setting.

Sacred moments, captured with respect

We learn the sequence of your particular ceremony beforehand, so whether it is Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati or Tamil, we anticipate each ritual rather than chase it. We photograph the seven steps of the saptapadi and the couple's first steps as a married pair. Around the sacred fire, the seven steps of the saptapadi bind a Hindu couple together, and we photograph each vow from close enough to feel its weight.

For Gujarati families the garba and raas fill an evening with circling colour and movement, and we love following the dandiya sticks and the swirling skirts. The mehndi or henna night is intimate and detailed, and we photograph both the henna and the laughter around it. The pre-wedding events are unhurried and full of feeling, and we give the mehndi, the haldi and the sangeet the same attention as the wedding day itself.
