At a Muslim nikah we photograph the vows, the mehr and the joyful moment the couple are declared married.
Speeches at an Asian reception can run long and range from tearful to merciless, and we watch the top table's reactions as closely as the speaker. The haldi or pithi is turmeric, colour and mischief in equal measure, and it often gives us the warmest and most unguarded frames of the whole wedding. Away from the couple, cousins reunite, aunts organise and children weave through the crowd, and we watch the family moments that fill the edges of the day.
