The short answer
There are few rituals in a Hindu wedding that Kaushik Bathia has not photographed many times over, which is what he brings to a celebration in Redditch, together with five European Gold awards. Someone in the family who knows everybody is worth borrowing for twenty minutes, so we can find the right aunts, uncles and grandparents quickly instead of calling for them over a microphone. A grah shanti or ganesh puja at home, the milni as the two families meet, the kanyadaan and the mangalpheras: all of it belongs to a Hindu wedding in Redditch and all of it is covered. Long multi day Hindu weddings ask for stamina and calm; after a quarter century of them, we hold our focus from the mehndi through to the final send off. Add a second photographer for the busiest events, a relaxed pre-wedding shoot beforehand and a hand finished fine art album afterwards. We travel to Worcestershire and anywhere else in the UK, so distance is no obstacle.
Bordesley Park and Southcrest Manor both give a Hindu wedding in Redditch room for a mandap and for the baraat to arrive properly rather than through a car park. Haldi and a ganesh puja open the morning at the house. The ceremony work concentrates on the kanyadaan, the pheras around the agni and the tying of the mangalsutra. Arrow Valley Country Park, with its lake and open parkland along the River Arrow, is the portrait ground, and the vidaai closes the day at the venue door.
Serving Redditch
Redditch is a Worcestershire town near Birmingham. Hindu weddings in Worcestershire move between temples, halls and open marquees, and we know how each of those kinds of space near Bromsgrove, Studley and Alvechurch behaves on the day. Under the mandap the priest's fire will smoke, and rather than avoid it we let the haze soften the light behind you, which gives the pheras a warmth no lamp can imitate.
The vidaai is photographed from outside the car as well as from the doorway, because we know the goodbye carries on at the window long after the family has stepped back. For the baraat we keep pace with the procession on foot, catching the drums, the dancing and the arrival energetically while staying clear of the family leading it. Our approach is calm and steady across a long day; we pace ourselves so we are still fresh and alert for the vidaai after hours of coverage since the morning puja.
We have photographed enough weddings to arrive in Redditch fully prepared. Redditch is a Worcestershire town near Birmingham, and we cover the surrounding towns of Bromsgrove and Worcester just as often. Redditch and the towns around it offer venues such as Old Rectory House, Southcrest Manor and Bordesley Park.
Redditch is a Worcestershire town that grew as a centre of the needle and fishing tackle manufacturing industry, later expanded as a New Town. Redditch railway station is the southern terminus of the Cross City Line to Birmingham New Street and Lichfield, with the M42 close by. When there is time for couple portraits, Arrow Valley Country Park, with its lake and open parkland along the River Arrow is a favourite, and Forge Mill Needle Museum and the ruins of medieval Bordesley Abbey makes a memorable setting.

What we offer
The gatherings that open the celebrations, documented so your album begins where the joy truly starts.
The seven steps around the fire, the heart of the ceremony, photographed with quiet, steady attention.
We build coverage around your celebrations, whether that is a single day or several days of events.
Every Hindu ritual
Laja homa, when the offerings of puffed rice go into the fire, is easy to miss because it is quiet, so we stay tight on the hands and the flame as the grains fall. We stay with the priest through the ganesh puja and the grah shanti, photographing the mantras, the ghee, the flowers and the concentration on the faces of the family. The saptapadi is where your promises are spoken step by step, and we photograph each of the seven with enough space that the vows are never crowded out of the frame.
Pithi at home is often held in a courtyard or a garden with harsh overhead light, so we look for shade or a doorway and place you in it before the smearing begins. Pre-wedding shoots serve two purposes: relaxed pictures for your invitations, and an hour together that means neither of you is meeting a camera for the first time on the wedding morning. We love a sangeet, and we photograph the rehearsed performances, the surprise dances and the roar from the family as each group takes its turn on the stage.

The whole celebration
The morning of the wedding has a rhythm of its own, and we are there for the prayers, the dressing and the calm before the baraat. We are there for the getting-ready hours on both sides, documenting the sari, the safa and the moments shared with parents and siblings.
A long day needs steady hands, and we photograph the baraat, the pheras and the vidaai with the same attention from start to finish. From the dhol and dancing of the baraat to the quiet tears of the vidaai, we cover the day as one continuous, balanced story.
Why choose us
Since 2001 we have specialised in weddings, and Hindu ceremonies are a large part of that, so the rituals and their rhythm are second nature to us now. Hands tell you what is coming before faces do, and reading them is a skill built slowly. A parent's grip tightening usually means the emotional part of a ritual is about to arrive.
Parking, loading and access are the dull details that decide whether a photographer arrives calm, so we check them with venues in Worcestershire in advance rather than on the morning itself. From London we will travel to Worcestershire, and we are used to following a Hindu wedding from a home haldi through to a late reception at a separate hall.

Where we travel
When the ceremony, the reception and the pre-wedding events fall at different addresses across Worcestershire, we map the journeys ahead so nothing is rushed on the day. Weekends away are part of this work, and travelling to Worcestershire for your wedding is something we are glad to do rather than something we treat as an inconvenience to price around.

Good to know
It would not stop us. We work with professional bodies and always bring full backup cameras and lenses, so a single fault never interrupts the coverage. On top of that, our cameras write to two memory cards simultaneously, so every frame is recorded twice as we shoot. Since a wedding cannot be done over, this redundancy is simply how we operate. Locally in Redditch that takes in Forge Mill Needle Museum and the ruins of medieval Bordesley Abbey.
Yes, and we do so often for couples in Redditch. Fusion weddings might pair Hindu rituals with a civil ceremony, a church blessing or another faith's traditions across one or two days. We research the running order carefully, speak with both officiants and cover each element with equal respect so the whole story reads as one.
With planning rather than luck. Choreographed performances are quick and the stage lighting theatrical, so we read the rehearsal where we can, take up positions for the standout moments and lifts, and rely on fast lenses that keep everything crisp in low light. The payoff is lively, dynamic images of the routine and of the delighted family looking on. We cover Redditch and nearby Astwood Bank, Headless Cross and Feckenham.
Yes, and the contrast between them guides how we shoot. The garland exchange of the jaimala is joyful and playful, so we stay alert for the teasing and the lift. The kanyadaan, where the parents give their daughter's hand, is far more solemn, and we photograph it softly and respectfully so the family are never made to feel on display. Around Redditch we are glad to photograph at Old Rectory House and Southcrest Manor.
Expect a short preview selection within a week or so, so you have something to enjoy while it all still feels vivid. The complete gallery arrives after we have edited properly, usually a few weeks later, with multi-day weddings taking a touch longer given the volume. We prefer to hand-finish every frame rather than push a rushed set out. Outdoors in Redditch we would head for Arrow Valley Country Park, with its lake and open parkland along the River Arrow.
Yes, and gladly. We hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurance, and venues, temples and hotels frequently want sight of it beforehand. Just let us know and the certificate goes directly to them. Being properly covered is one of the quiet assurances that comes with hiring someone who has done this for a living for years. Redditch is easy to reach: Redditch railway station is the southern terminus of the Cross City Line to Birmingham New Street and Lichfield, with the M42 close by.
Of course you can. Booking us for just one function, such as the sangeet or the mehndi, is entirely possible and a lovely way to secure professional coverage of an event close to your heart without the full commitment. It is a common first step; couples often meet us this way and then extend the booking to their wedding day afterwards. For Redditch bookings, getting here is simple: Redditch railway station is the southern terminus of the Cross City Line to Birmingham New Street and Lichfield, with the M42 close by.
