The short answer
Kaushik Bathia is an award winning wedding photographer based in London, photographing weddings in Bath and throughout Somerset for over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations. We plan the timings with you beforehand, then let the day breathe on its own, photographing what unfolds rather than steering it toward a set list of shots. We cover every kind of wedding in Bath, from church, civil and register office ceremonies to country houses, barns, marquees, hotels and garden venues, as well as multicultural and fusion celebrations. Having built the business on word of mouth since 2001, we take reliability seriously; being on time, dressed appropriately and ready is simply how we work. You can add an engagement shoot, a second photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Somerset and beyond, so wherever your day is held it is well within reach.
Serving Bath
Bath is a Georgian World Heritage city with elegant venues. We photograph weddings at churches, register offices, country houses, barns and hotels across Somerset, including Keynsham, Saltford and Bathampton. We photograph readings, rings and the signing of the register with a light hand, blending multicultural or fusion elements naturally when they are part of your day.
We shoot loosely and instinctively, following the energy of the room, so the collection you receive moves at the same pace the day actually did. Rather than directing every scene, we let your day breathe and photograph it as it happens, stepping in gently only when a group shot needs a little order. We stay observant and patient, waiting for expressions to arrive naturally rather than asking for them, which keeps the whole set feeling warm and unposed.
Couples marrying in Bath find us close to hand and easy to reach. Bath is a Georgian World Heritage city with elegant venues, and we photograph weddings here and in nearby Bristol and Swindon alike. In and around Bath, we have photographed at venues such as Priston Mill, Babington House and Orchardleigh Park.
Bath is a Georgian city in Somerset and a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its honey coloured stone architecture and Roman baths. Bath Spa railway station lies on the Great Western Main Line between Bristol and London. For relaxed couple photographs, we like Royal Victoria Park, a landscaped park below the Royal Crescent with a botanical garden, and The Royal Crescent, a sweeping row of Georgian terraced houses designed by John Wood the Younger gives the day a strong sense of Bath.

What we offer
We work quietly and calmly in the background, guiding when needed but never taking over your day.
For weddings that run across two or three days, we build coverage around each event so nothing is left out.
We stay from the morning preparations through to the evening, so the whole story is there in one set.
Every kind of wedding
We understand how quickly a ceremony passes, so we prepare thoroughly beforehand and then let the day carry us, catching the vows as they land. From the walk down the aisle to the final blessing, we follow the ceremony as it happens, never staging a thing and never breaking its rhythm. We understand that every ceremony has its own rhythm, so we read the room, keep our movement minimal and photograph the vows as they truly happen.
From getting ready in the morning to the final send off, we document the whole day as it flows, so nothing between the big moments is lost. We are happy to add a welcome gathering or a next-day brunch to your coverage, so the wider weekend of celebration is remembered alongside the day itself. From the first arrivals to the send off, we photograph the reception as one continuous celebration rather than a series of items to tick off a list.

The whole celebration
Morning prep has its own rhythm, and we work quietly through it, letting the anticipation build in the pictures rather than staging it. The hours before the ceremony hold some of the loveliest pictures of all, so we begin with the getting ready and let the anticipation build on its own.
Our aim is a balanced record, roughly even weight on the ceremony, the meal, the speeches and the dancing, rather than one crowded chapter. Our approach is to document the day evenly and let it tell itself, so the gallery reads start to finish without gaps.
Why choose us
We back up every set of images in more than one place as soon as the day is done, so your photographs are safe long before your album is made. Over a thousand couples have trusted us with their wedding, and that depth of experience is why we stay composed when the timing tightens or the weather turns.
From our London base we travel across Somerset and beyond, and multi-venue days are never a problem; we plan the route and timings in advance. Long journeys and remote settings suit us well, and weddings across Keynsham, Saltford and Bathampton and the further reaches of Somerset are all within easy reach.

Where we travel
We would rather arrive early and relaxed than cut it fine, so we set off in good time for weddings anywhere in Somerset and the counties beyond. Ceremony in one town and reception in another is a pattern we handle smoothly, planning the gap so the pictures never stop, whether that is within Keynsham, Saltford and Bathampton or across Somerset.

Good to know
Wherever possible we aim for softer light in the later afternoon, often around golden hour, which flatters skin and adds warmth. We only need fifteen to twenty minutes, and we can split it into two short sessions. We will suggest the best slot once we see your timings and the season.
Yes. We carry professional lighting and fast lenses, so dark ceremony rooms, winter afternoons and evening receptions are all manageable. We know how to work in low light without flattening the mood of a room. You do not need to change your plans around the forecast or the season.
Yes, every booking comes with a clear written agreement that sets out what is included, the hours of coverage, the costs, and the payment dates. It protects both of us and means there is no confusion later on. We will happily answer any questions before you sign, so you feel completely comfortable.
We are photographers rather than a film company, so we keep our full attention on stills. If you would like a film of the day, we work well beside videographers and can recommend teams whose style sits comfortably with ours. Booking both early helps everyone plan around the same timeline.
Most of the day is documentary, so we record things as they happen without staging them. The exception is a short set of group shots and a relaxed portrait session, where a little gentle direction helps. Even then we keep it natural, so the portraits still look like you rather than a stiff studio pose.
Yes. We design fine-art albums using thick, lay-flat pages and archival printing, then send you a proof to review before anything goes to print. You can add matching parent copies at a smaller size. The album is optional, so you can book coverage alone and add one later if you prefer.
For most weddings we arrive early on the day itself, which gives us time to check the light and find the strongest backdrops. If your venue is unusual or you would like a pre-visit, we are happy to arrange one where practical. Knowing the space in advance means we spend the day on you, not on logistics.
