The short answer
Kaushik Bathia is an award winning wedding photographer based in London, photographing weddings in Bristol and throughout the South West for over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations. We stay observant and patient, waiting for expressions to arrive naturally rather than asking for them, which keeps the whole set feeling warm and unposed. We cover every kind of wedding in Bristol, from church, civil and register office ceremonies to country houses, barns, marquees, hotels and garden venues, as well as multicultural and fusion celebrations. We know that a wedding happens only once, so we bring the reliability of decades of practice and the care of someone who still loves the work. Engagement shoots, a second photographer for busier days and beautiful fine art albums are all part of what we offer, and we travel throughout the South West and the rest of the UK for your wedding.
Serving Bristol
Bristol is a vibrant city with a diverse community and grand venues. You will find us at home in a parish church, a converted barn or a smart hotel, and our venue diary reaches right across Easton, Fishponds and Bedminster and the rest of the South West. We photograph readings, rings and the signing of the register with a light hand, blending multicultural or fusion elements naturally when they are part of your day.
Rather than directing every scene, we let your day breathe and photograph it as it happens, stepping in gently only when a group shot needs a little order. A relaxed portrait session is woven gently into the day, timed around the best light, so you get a short breather together and a few frames to keep forever. You will barely notice us for much of the day, and that is the point; the less we intrude, the more relaxed everyone stays in front of the lens.
Getting across to Bristol is a straightforward run for us. Bristol is a vibrant city with a diverse community and grand venues, and we photograph weddings here and throughout the surrounding towns, Sunderland and Bath among them. In and around Bristol, we have photographed at venues such as Ashton Court Estate, Leigh Court and Berwick Lodge.
Bristol is a harbour city in the South West known for its maritime history, street art and independent culture. Bristol Temple Meads is the main railway station, on the Great Western Main Line to London Paddington. For relaxed couple photographs, we like Ashton Court Estate, a large country estate and deer park on the edge of the city, and Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel across the Avon Gorge gives the day a strong sense of Bristol.

What we offer
Your high-resolution images arrive in a private online gallery you can view, download and share with family and friends.
Beyond the album we can produce framed prints and wall art, so your favourite images live on your walls.
We stay from morning preparations through to the evening party, so every part of your day is photographed as it happens.
Every kind of wedding
Whether you marry in a country house, a chapel or a city hall, we photograph the ceremony with restraint, letting the day speak for itself. When two traditions come together in one ceremony, we photograph each part with equal warmth so the finished set honours both sides of your family. Our approach to the ceremony is simple: watch closely, stay out of the way and record the promises exactly as you make them.
We follow the meal from the toasts to the coffee, photographing the speeches and the reactions, then move outside as the light softens for a few portraits. We photograph the speeches from more than one angle when a second photographer is with us, so you keep both the joke and the reaction to it. The cutting of the cake and the first dance often run close together, and we stay ready for both, keeping our light soft and our presence easy.

The whole celebration
We like being on hand while hair and make-up are finished, catching the small exchanges between you and the people helping you get ready. We build the timeline around the light as well as the schedule, so portraits and early moments fall when the day looks its most flattering.
A wedding has its own tempo, and we follow it, letting the quiet stretches breathe and being ready when the pace lifts again. From the first arrivals to the last dance, we keep a steady thread running through the pictures so nothing important slips past unseen.
Why choose us
A second photographer is available whenever your day calls for it, giving broader coverage and a second perspective on the moments you cannot be in two places for. Trust is built on evidence, and between the awards, the albums and the long list of couples before you, there is plenty to reassure you before you book.
We are happy to follow you wherever the celebration leads, and venues throughout the South West are all comfortably within our reach. When a day is spread out or the drive is a long one, a second photographer can travel with us so coverage across the South West stays unbroken.

Where we travel
We map out the driving and parking in advance for every wedding, so reaching venues around Easton, Fishponds and Bedminster and across the South West is smooth on the day. Rural lanes, tricky parking and out-of-the-way estates hold no fear for us; we have driven to weddings in every part of the South West.

Good to know
You are free to print, share and post your images for personal use as much as you like, with no per-print fees. We simply ask that photos are not sold commercially or edited beyond recognition, and that we are credited if you share them publicly. We keep the copyright, which lets us show a few images in our portfolio.
For a full wedding day you can typically expect several hundred edited images, and often more for larger celebrations. We favour quality over sheer volume, so every photograph we deliver has been chosen and finished by hand. You receive them in full resolution with no watermarks, ready to print or share as you wish.
Yes, and it is one of the most useful things we do. Once we know your ceremony time and your plans around Bristol, we help you build in enough room for portraits and groups without stealing time from your guests. A well-judged timeline is the difference between a rushed day and a calm one.
Our albums are fine-art and hand-finished, designed with real care so they feel like a treasured keepsake rather than a printed booklet. We choose the images with you, arrange the pages to tell the story of your day, and use quality materials built to last. Many couples tell us the album becomes a family favourite.
We would love that. Meeting in person, or over a video call if that is easier, helps you get a feel for how we work and lets us hear all about your plans. There is no pressure at all; it is simply a friendly conversation so you can decide with real confidence.
Yes. Where a moment suits it, we prepare a considered black and white version alongside the colour edit, usually for strong light, emotion or reportage frames. You are not charged extra for this. The full gallery is delivered in colour, with black and white used where it genuinely adds something.
In more than twenty years we have never missed a wedding, but we take the risk seriously. We work within a trusted network of experienced professional photographers, so in a genuine emergency we can arrange skilled cover who shoots to our standard, and we still handle the editing of your images ourselves afterwards.
