The short answer
Kaushik Bathia is an award winning wedding photographer based in London, photographing weddings in Newport and throughout South Wales for over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations. For family groups we keep instructions light and the mood friendly, getting everyone through quickly so the formal part never turns into a chore. Church, civil, country house, barn, marquee or hotel, and every faith, culture and fusion celebration, we are equally at home photographing them all in Newport. We carry backup cameras, spare lenses and duplicate memory cards to every wedding, so a single piece of kit failing never puts your pictures at risk. You can add an engagement shoot, a second photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across South Wales and beyond, so wherever your day is held it is well within reach.
Serving Newport
Newport is a South Wales city. Grand estates, garden marquees, hotel ballrooms and quiet parish churches all appear in the weddings we shoot around Cwmbran, Caerleon and Rogerstone and across South Wales. We understand that every ceremony has its own rhythm, so we read the room, keep our movement minimal and photograph the vows as they truly happen.
We keep a low profile through the ceremony and speeches, using longer lenses from a distance so nobody feels watched and the real reactions come through. Our documentary instinct means we are often looking where others are not, catching the reaction behind the speech and the smile just after the vows. We photograph in a documentary way, recording the day as a story from the morning preparations through to the last dance, with as little interference as possible.
Newport sits within easy reach of our studio, and we know its venues well. Newport is a South Wales city, and we work across the surrounding towns of Swansea and Cardiff as well. Close to Newport, we have worked at venues including Celtic Manor Resort and Tredegar House.
Newport is a South Wales city on the River Usk with an established South Asian community and a strong industrial heritage. Newport railway station sits on the South Wales Main Line, around two miles from the Transporter Bridge. When there is time for couple portraits, Tredegar House and its grounds, a National Trust estate covering almost 100 acres on the edge of the city is a favourite, and The Newport Transporter Bridge, a Grade I listed bridge built in 1906 makes a memorable setting.

What we offer
Chosen frames can become prints for the wall, sized and finished so a favourite moment stays in view.
We photograph weddings across the country, so wherever you are marrying we can be there with no surprise cost.
We work quietly and keep out of the way, so guests forget we are there and the day feels like your own.
Every kind of wedding
Church, courtyard, clifftop or town hall, wherever you choose to make your promises, we frame the reactions on both sides and the quiet glance you share halfway through. A registry office wedding can be just as moving as any cathedral, and we bring the same attention to the small, tender details wherever your vows take place. When two traditions come together in one ceremony, we photograph each part with equal warmth so the finished set honours both sides of your family.
An engagement shoot in a Newport setting you both love makes lovely pictures in their own right and eases any nerves before the wedding proper. Speeches bring the biggest reactions of the day, so we watch both the speaker and the room, catching the joy, the tears and the applause. As the reception gathers pace, we keep moving, finding the hugs between old friends, the children on the dance floor and the quiet corners of joy.

The whole celebration
Morning prep has its own rhythm, and we work quietly through it, letting the anticipation build in the pictures rather than staging it. Early coverage means we are already reading the light and the layout of the venue by the time your guests begin to gather.
We stay with you from morning until the party is in full swing, so the pictures move naturally from calm to celebration without any gaps in the middle. The finished collection should feel like living the day again in order, so we cover each stage with the same attention and let the story flow.
Why choose us
With more than 1000 weddings behind us over twenty-five years, very little takes us by surprise, and that experience keeps us steady when a day runs long. We have handled enough weddings to stay unflustered when a plan changes at short notice, keeping the mood light while we quietly work around it.
Reaching venues across Cwmbran, Caerleon and Rogerstone and the rest of South Wales is part of our routine, and we build travel time into the plan so we are always ready before you are. From our studio it is an easy run out to South Wales, and we always allow generous time so we can settle in well before the first shot.

Where we travel
From preparations at home to a reception miles away, we keep pace across Cwmbran, Caerleon and Rogerstone and the wider South Wales without missing a moment. A day that moves between two or three venues asks for careful timing, and we sort the route and the schedule well before we leave for Cwmbran, Caerleon and Rogerstone.

Good to know
Once you are happy to go ahead, we hold your date with a signed agreement and a booking fee. Until both are in place we cannot promise the date will still be free, as we take a limited number of weddings each year. We would always encourage you to get in touch early to avoid disappointment.
Yes. Every couple receives their full set of edited high-resolution images through a private online gallery, with the freedom to print them for your own use. You can download them, order prints, and share the link with loved ones who could not be there. Your photographs are yours to enjoy for many years to come.
We know plans can change, so if you need to move your date we will always do our best to accommodate you, subject to our availability on the new day. Please let us know as soon as you can, and we will look after you. We aim to be as flexible and understanding as we possibly can.
Full day coverage typically produces between 500 and 700 finished images, though the exact number depends on your guest count, the schedule and how much is happening. We do not pad the gallery with near-duplicates. Every photo you receive has been chosen and edited, so you get the best of the day.
We can, and many couples like us to stay through the speeches and first dance, as those are some of the warmest moments of the whole day. If you would prefer coverage to finish a little earlier, that works just as well. We will agree the finish time in advance so there are no surprises.
Many couples find it does. A relaxed pre-wedding session lets you get used to how we work and how you look in your photos, with no pressure and no audience. It also gives us images for save-the-dates or guest books. By your wedding day, being photographed feels natural rather than new.
It depends on your schedule. Preparations through to the first dance usually needs eight to ten hours, while a shorter civil ceremony and reception can work in less. We are happy to look at your rough timeline and suggest the hours that cover the moments you care about without paying for time you do not need.
