We photograph the connections between people, the parent watching from the side and the friends in fits of laughter, because those are the frames you return to. Church, civil, country house, barn, marquee or hotel, and every faith, culture and fusion celebration, we are equally at home photographing them all in Cardiff. With more than 1,000 weddings behind us over twenty-five years, very little takes us by surprise, and that experience keeps us steady when a day runs long. A second photographer, relaxed engagement shoots and hand finished fine art albums are all available, and we travel across South Wales and the wider UK so distance is never a problem.

Marrying at Cardiff Castle hands a photographer two entirely different looks in one place: the medieval castle outside and the Victorian Gothic revival mansion within, where the interiors are dark and richly patterned and demand careful exposure. Better still, Bute Park runs to around 130 acres of landscaped parkland directly behind it, so the couple portraits and the big family groups can happen without anyone getting into a car. Roath Park and its lake are the alternative when the light is flat and open water helps. Receptions at Mercure Cardiff Holland House or Cardiff City Stadium sit close to the centre, and Cardiff Central is a short walk from the castle and the shopping streets, so guests travelling in from Canton, Roath or Llandaff arrive easily. Legally, it is over quickly. Ten minutes of legal wording, two signatures, and a walk back down. Coverage therefore gets decided before it starts rather than found during it, since there is no later half in which to recover a missed frame. We settle standing positions with the registrar beforehand, along with whether we may move while the vows are spoken, then take those ten minutes on two cameras from two angles so nothing rests on one exposure.

Groups are the day's other fixed cost. A dozen combinations at four minutes apiece eats the better part of an hour, straight out of the drinks you paid for, so we trim that list with you well before the day, then run it against a wall rather than into open sun. A first dance reverses the problem, and so do the speeches: one moves and is badly lit, the other sits still and is badly lit, and they want different lenses and different assumptions about noise.

What happens if your equipment fails?+

Nothing you would notice. The redundancy is in the bag rather than at home, so a dead body or a dead card is a swap rather than an interruption. The worst case is a few seconds of one of us stepping sideways.

Do you provide high-resolution digital images?+

Yes. Every keeper is delivered at full size, edited, unwatermarked, and licensed for you to print wherever you like. There is a gallery for sharing and a download of the whole set. Nothing gets withheld for a later sale.

Do your awards mean anything for our wedding?+

Not on their own. Judge us on whether we can hold a dark room, run to time, and get on with your relatives. The honest test is one whole wedding, beginning to end, in place of a highlight reel.

Who designs the album layout?+

We build the first layout, because sequencing a hundred images is a skill and staring at a blank template is not fun. Then you change whatever you want. Most couples move two or three spreads and leave the rest.

Is your Cardiff coverage posed or candid?+

Mostly candid, with roughly an hour of directed work inside it. The posed part is groups, plus a short session for the pair of you; the rest gets watched, not arranged. If the Cardiff weather cooperates that directed hour moves outdoors.
