The short answer

Your wedding photographer in Cardiff, at a glance

An award winning, London based wedding photographer, Kaushik Bathia has spent more than twenty five years photographing weddings in Cardiff and right across South Wales. We give couples space to enjoy their own wedding, gathering the images around you rather than pulling you out of the moment for the sake of a shot. Church, civil, country house, barn, marquee or hotel, and every faith, culture and fusion celebration, we are equally at home photographing them all in Cardiff. With more than 1000 weddings behind us over twenty-five years, very little takes us by surprise, and that experience keeps us steady when a day runs long. A second photographer, relaxed engagement shoots and hand finished fine art albums are all available, and we travel across South Wales and the wider UK so distance is never a problem.

Serving Cardiff

Bringing 25 years of wedding photography to Cardiff

Cardiff is the Welsh capital, with a diverse community and grand venues. From rustic barns and marquees to elegant hotels and historic churches, we cover the venues right across Cathays, Grangetown and Riverside and beyond into South Wales. We watch for the unguarded moments during the service, the shaking hands, the mouthed words, the parent wiping an eye, and hold them without interrupting anything.

We treat every wedding as its own story, so nothing is forced into a formula and the pictures reflect your people, your setting and your mood. We work in available light wherever we can, adding a soft flash only when a dark room needs it, so the images stay true to how the evening looked. Throughout the day we stay unobtrusive and adaptable, adjusting quietly to changes of plan so the coverage never feels stiff or interrupted.

Getting across to Cardiff is a straightforward run for us. Cardiff is the Welsh capital, with a diverse community and grand venues, and we photograph weddings here and throughout the surrounding towns, Newport and Swansea among them. We are at home at Cardiff-area venues such as Cardiff Castle, Mercure Cardiff Holland House and Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff is the capital of Wales, a diverse city with grand civic buildings around Cathays Park and a medieval castle at its centre. Cardiff Central is the city's main railway station, a short walk from the castle and the shopping streets. We often take couples to Bute Park, around 130 acres of landscaped parkland behind Cardiff Castle, and Roath Park with its lake for a few quiet portraits, and Cardiff Castle, a medieval castle and Victorian Gothic revival mansion in the city centre is a lovely backdrop nearby.

What we offer

What is included in your Cardiff wedding coverage

01

Relaxed Portraits

A few unhurried portraits away from the crowd, done quickly so you are soon back with your guests.

02

Every Tradition Welcome

Church, civil, humanist or multi-day celebrations, we photograph the customs that matter to your two families.

03

The Speeches

We watch both the speaker and the table, so the laughter, the pauses and the quiet tears are all held.

Every kind of wedding

From registry office to temple

We give the ceremony the room it needs, standing back so nothing feels posed, and we still catch the tears, the smiles and the steadying hand on an arm. The look you give each other as the words are spoken is often the picture you keep longest, and we are ready for it however your ceremony is arranged. Whether the setting is a grand nave or a simple garden marquee, we work with the available light and the sightlines to record the ceremony honestly.

We follow the meal from the toasts to the coffee, photographing the speeches and the reactions, then move outside as the light softens for a few portraits. We set aside a little time for portraits, walking with you somewhere quiet for a handful of relaxed frames that still feel like you. We cover the details you have laboured over, the flowers, the table settings and the cake, then return our attention to the people who fill the room.

The whole celebration

We stay until the party in Cardiff winds down

We like to reach the getting ready early, so we can settle in, meet the people around you and be part of the calm before things begin in earnest. Multi part weddings ask for careful planning, and we agree the key moments across each gathering in advance so nothing important slips past unseen.

Because a wedding is one long story rather than a handful of set pieces, we photograph the connective moments that hold the day together. The finished collection should feel like living the day again in order, so we cover each stage with the same attention and let the story flow.

Why choose us

Why couples in Cardiff choose us

Experience means we anticipate what is coming next, so we are ready for the tears during the vows and the laughter in the room before either arrives. Steadiness under pressure is earned, not claimed, and a thousand weddings of practice is why we stay calm when a moment arrives only once.

A second photographer can join us when travel or a split-venue day calls for it, so coverage across Cathays, Grangetown and Riverside and South Wales stays seamless. From preparations at home to a reception miles away, we keep pace across Cathays, Grangetown and Riverside and the wider South Wales without missing a moment.

Good to know

Wedding photography in Cardiff, frequently asked questions

We carry professional backup cameras, lenses and lighting to every wedding, and we photograph to dual memory cards so images are written twice as we go. We also hold full professional indemnity and public liability insurance, which many venues ask to see. Nothing on a wedding day can be re-run, so this cover is not optional for us.

Yes. Every package includes your edited photographs in full resolution with no watermarks, delivered through a private online gallery you can download from and share. You are free to print them yourselves at any size, though we are also happy to produce albums, framed prints and wall art finished to a professional standard.

Awards are a reassurance rather than the whole story. Our five European Gold awards reflect years of consistent, careful work, but what matters most is that you love your own photographs. We are proud of the recognition; even so, your happiness with the finished images will always be the real measure for us.

We design the first draft for you, choosing and sequencing images so the album flows as a story rather than a random set of photos. You then review the proof and request changes until it feels right. Nothing is printed until you have approved the final design, so you stay in control of the outcome.

For a full wedding day you can typically expect several hundred edited images, and often more for larger celebrations. We favour quality over sheer volume, so every photograph we deliver has been chosen and finished by hand. You receive them in full resolution with no watermarks, ready to print or share as you wish.

Most of the day is documentary, so we record things as they happen without staging them. The exception is a short set of group shots and a relaxed portrait session, where a little gentle direction helps. Even then we keep it natural, so the portraits still look like you rather than a stiff studio pose.

We keep the group photographs relaxed and efficient, so you are not left standing about for ages. It helps if you send us a short list of the combinations you would like beforehand, and if you nominate a friend or usher who knows everyone by name. We will gather people gently and have this part done quickly.
