From Mehndi to Reception in Bristol

During the most solemn passages we step back and lengthen the lens, so the granthi's words or the sacred fire are photographed from a respectful distance.

A second photographer means we can be at the mandap and with the guests at once, so the reactions in the room are held alongside the ritual at the front. We read the rhythm of an Asian celebration and are always in the right place at the right time. Multi-day weddings ask for stamina and planning, so we map the running order with you beforehand and pace ourselves to be sharp from the haldi to the last song.

Bristol is a harbour city in the South West known for its maritime history, street art and independent culture. Bristol Temple Meads is the main railway station, on the Great Western Main Line to London Paddington. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Ashton Court Estate, a large country estate and deer park on the edge of the city, with Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel across the Avon Gorge close by for a striking backdrop.

Every tradition, photographed with care

From the kanyadaan to the saptapadi, or the first laav to the last, the ceremony tells its own story and we follow it. At a Hindu wedding, the pheras around the sacred fire seal the marriage, and we capture them close. At a Sikh wedding the exchange of garlands and the palla placed in the couple's hands begin the Anand Karaj, and we follow from the very first hymn.

We photograph the bridal and groom's preparations with a gentle, unobtrusive eye. The reception is the joyful finale, with speeches, the first dance and the bhangra. When the reception loosens and the dance floor takes over, the bhangra runs late and joyful, and we stay for every last turn under the lights.
