The short answer
An award winning, London based wedding photographer, Kaushik Bathia has spent more than twenty five years photographing weddings, and travels to Newcastle upon Tyne and right across Tyne and Wear. Our approach leans on being calm and unobtrusive, blending into the day so guests forget we are there and simply carry on enjoying themselves. Whatever your wedding looks like in Newcastle upon Tyne, a church service, a register office, a country house, a barn or a hotel, and whatever your traditions, we photograph the whole day as it happens. From engagement shoots through to the finished album, we guide you through each stage with the ease that comes from having done this for well over two decades. Engagement shoots, a second photographer for busier days and beautiful fine art albums are all part of what we offer, and we travel throughout Tyne and Wear and the rest of the UK for your wedding.
Steel and stone sit side by side in this university city, the Tyne Bridge arching across to Gateshead and the Georgian terraces of Grainger Town holding the centre. The bridge is the picture everyone wants and it needs either height or distance to work with people in the frame. Jesmond Dene, the wooded river valley park designed in part by the Armstrong family, is the quieter counterpart and copes far better with a bright day. Crowne Plaza Newcastle, the Vermont Hotel and Newcastle Civic Centre all sit close to the centre, which keeps transfers short and the timetable forgiving. Newcastle Central Station is on the East Coast Main Line with direct trains to London and Edinburgh, so much of the guest list arrives by rail, while Heaton, Byker and Wallsend contribute the local journeys.
Serving Newcastle upon Tyne
Newcastle upon Tyne is a great north-eastern city with grand venues. From the register office in the morning to a banqueting hall or garden marquee by evening, we cover the venues of Tyne and Wear in full, and Gateshead, Jesmond and Gosforth is well known to us. The look you give each other as the words are spoken is often the picture you keep longest, and we are ready for it however your ceremony is arranged.
Children set the tone at a wedding, and if they are photographed early and enjoying themselves, the adults around them relax considerably faster than any amount of coaxing would manage. Where a venue gives us only one usable window, we build the morning coverage around it, moving the dress, the flowers and the toast to where the light actually is. You will barely notice us at work, and that is the point; we move calmly around the day so the pictures show how it actually felt, not how it was arranged.
Weddings take us to Newcastle upon Tyne more often than you might think. Newcastle upon Tyne is a great north-eastern city with grand venues, and we are just as happy photographing couples in the neighbouring Sunderland and Middlesbrough. In and around Newcastle upon Tyne, we are glad to cover venues such as Crowne Plaza Newcastle, Vermont Hotel and Newcastle Civic Centre.
Newcastle upon Tyne is a university city on the River Tyne known for its Georgian Grainger Town and lively cultural scene. Newcastle Central Station sits on the East Coast Main Line with direct trains to London and Edinburgh. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Jesmond Dene, a wooded river valley park designed in part by the Armstrong family, with The Tyne Bridge, a steel arch bridge linking Newcastle and Gateshead across the river close by for a striking backdrop.

What we offer
Chosen frames can become prints for the wall, sized and finished so a favourite moment stays in view.
A relaxed shoot before the wedding lets us get to know each other and helps you feel at ease on the day.
Beyond the album we can produce framed prints and wall art, so your favourite images live on your walls.
Every kind of wedding
In Newcastle upon Tyne or anywhere else, we have photographed ceremonies of every kind, and that experience means we anticipate each moment rather than chase it. Stained glass throws strong colour onto skin, which looks lovely to the eye and strange in a photograph, so we correct for it frame by frame rather than in bulk. Readings, blessings and any cultural element you are including get discussed before the day, so we know which two minutes of a forty-minute service actually cannot be missed.
We give the reception room its due before your guests arrive, photographing the flowers, the place settings and the details you spent months choosing. Group shots need not be stiff, and we keep them relaxed and quick, gathering families in good humour so nobody stands about waiting in the sun. The first dance lasts around three minutes, which is enough for perhaps thirty usable frames, so we agree with the DJ in advance that the smoke machine stays off for the first minute.

The whole celebration
Handwritten notes exchanged between you on the morning are among the most requested photographs later, so tell us they exist rather than hoping we spot them on a bedside table. Getting ready is where a lot of the honest pictures live, so we are there early for the quiet nerves, the last checks and the first look in the mirror.
Long summer days tempt couples into late ceremonies, and while that works beautifully for evening light, it compresses everything before the meal into a very tight afternoon. Loose, loud and frequently the funniest part of the gallery, the last hour of a wedding is why we suggest coverage that reaches into it rather than stopping politely.
Why choose us
We have worked in tiny register offices and vast marquees, in bright sun and heavy rain, and we know how to get lovely pictures whatever the day hands us. Trust is built on evidence, and between the awards, the albums and the long list of couples before you, there is plenty to reassure you before you book.
Distance is rarely an issue for us; we will gladly drive out to Tyne and Wear and further, arriving early so nothing feels rushed. Ceremony in one town and reception in another is a pattern we handle smoothly, planning the gap so the pictures never stop, whether that is within Gateshead, Jesmond and Gosforth or across Tyne and Wear.

Where we travel
Rural venues in Tyne and Wear often have poor mobile signal and vague postcodes, so we ask for a landmark or a pin dropped on a map rather than relying on a satnav to find the gate. From preparations at home to a reception miles away, we keep pace across Gateshead, Jesmond and Gosforth and the wider Tyne and Wear without missing a moment.

Good to know
With a little planning, the formal family photographs usually take around twenty to thirty minutes, leaving plenty of time for you to enjoy your guests. We suggest keeping the list to the groups that matter most, as very long lists eat into the celebration. We will guide everyone along warmly and keep things moving. In and around Newcastle upon Tyne that includes Crowne Plaza Newcastle and Vermont Hotel.
Of course. With so many expenses landing together around a wedding, we are more than happy to arrange a straightforward payment plan. The usual pattern is a booking fee at the outset, followed by the balance in two or so instalments ahead of the day. Let us know the rhythm that suits you and we will try to make it work. We cover Newcastle upon Tyne and nearby Heaton, Byker and Wallsend.
We keep the group photographs relaxed and brisk, so nobody is left standing about for ages. It helps enormously if you send a short list of the combinations you want in advance and appoint a friend or usher who can put names to faces. We round everyone up gently and have this part wrapped up quickly. Getting to Newcastle upon Tyne is straightforward for us: Newcastle Central Station sits on the East Coast Main Line with direct trains to London and Edinburgh.
We do. Every package comes with your finished photographs in high resolution, with no watermarks stamped across them, delivered by a private gallery you download from at your leisure. You are welcome to print them independently, though many couples ask us to produce albums, framed pieces and wall art crafted to a professional standard instead. Open air sessions near Newcastle upon Tyne tend to use Jesmond Dene, a wooded river valley park designed in part by the Armstrong family.
We offer them, and they make a gentle introduction before the main event. Over a laid-back hour or two we get acquainted, which means you arrive at the wedding already comfortable being photographed by us. Whatever we capture is yours to keep, whether for save-the-date cards or just for the pleasure of having them. Locally in Newcastle upon Tyne that takes in The Tyne Bridge, a steel arch bridge linking Newcastle and Gateshead across the river.
After many years photographing across the wider region, the odds are good that we know your venue and its best backdrops already. And if it is one we have not shot before, we look into the layout ahead of time and arrive early to scout. Preparation is the point, so we are never working it out on the day itself. In and around Newcastle upon Tyne that includes Crowne Plaza Newcastle and Vermont Hotel.
Weddings often overrun a little, and we take it in our stride. If you would like us to carry on beyond the agreed finish, we can usually add extra hours right there on the day, telling you the cost before we continue. Honestly, we would far rather stay on than miss a moment you will treasure. Around Newcastle upon Tyne we are glad to photograph at Crowne Plaza Newcastle and Vermont Hotel.
