What Ashridge House publishes about price

Ashridge House does not publish wedding prices on its website. The House and Cultural brochures are sent through an enquiry form rather than offered as a public PDF, and Duke's Yard is priced as a fixed venue hire fee, by day and time of year, plus a per-person catering package. Figures quoted on wedding directories are not the venue's own and are not repeated here. What the venue does publish: The House package needs a minimum of 90 guests, Duke's Yard takes 70 to 120, and a date can be held provisionally for two weeks after a show round before it must be confirmed in writing.

Mandap ceremonies, blessings and the Cultural package

Legal ceremonies take place in the Main Hall (180) or, outdoors, on the South Terrace (180) against the arches of the house; the Lady Marian Alford takes 130. The Chapel is for Christian blessings only, including Roman Catholic, Greek Orthodox and Anglican blessings, because you cannot legally marry there. Repton is listed for a mandap or chuppah ceremony of up to 280.

The Cultural package is described as letting couples "design your wedding with honoured traditions", with up to four heritage rooms and garden areas: vows in the Main Hall or the gardens, drinks in the Old Library, Loggia and South Terrace, and the wedding breakfast in rooms such as Repton or the Lady Marian Alford. Couples choose from preferred caterers, among them Gujarati, Punjabi, South Indian, halal and Asian vegetarian specialists.

The estate can host two weddings at once, one in the house and one in Monks Barn. Dogs may attend the ceremony and drinks on a lead with a chaperone. Ask the venue in writing: whether a havan or agni is permitted inside a mandap, whether caterers outside the preferred list are allowed, which rooms hold the civil licence, and the confetti rules.

Approved suppliers and photography rules at Ashridge

Ashridge House requires couples to choose florists, photographers, videographers, musicians, DJs and fireworks from its approved list. A supplier who is not listed can be vetted, including insurance checks, for a fee per supplier, so if you would like us to photograph your day there, raise it with the venue early.

A winding staircase, a Loggia and the Italian Gardens

  • The cantilevered staircase that winds around the Main Hall is a natural spot for a group or a dress picture from above.
  • The South Terrace ceremony has the arches of the house behind the couple; agree a fixed start time so the light can be planned.
  • The Loggia has floor-to-ceiling windows over the Italian Gardens and a blue fan-vaulted ceiling: soft daylight for drinks reception pictures.
  • The Italian Gardens, designed by Lady Marian Alford, are named by the venue for receptions and photography.
  • The Chapel's fan vaulting and wood carving suit a blessing, but the legal ceremony has to be elsewhere.
  • Fireworks cut-offs mean the closing picture outside happens by 22:00 or 22:55, not at the end of the night.

Ashridge House wedding photography, frequently asked questions

How much does a wedding at Ashridge House cost?

Ashridge House does not publish its wedding prices online. Its House and Cultural brochures are sent after an enquiry, and Duke's Yard is priced as a fixed hire fee that varies by day and time of year, plus a catering package charged per person. Directory figures are not the venue's own, so they are not repeated here. Minimum numbers are published: 90 guests for The House package and 70 to 120 for Duke's Yard. A date can be held for two weeks after a show round, then confirmed in writing.

Can you have an Asian wedding at Ashridge House?

The venue sells a Cultural package and lists Repton for a mandap or chuppah ceremony of up to 280 guests. Couples choose from preferred caterers, and the published list includes Gujarati, Punjabi, South Indian, halal and Asian vegetarian specialists, with halal and kosher meals available. The venue does not publish whether a havan or agni fire is allowed inside the mandap, or whether a caterer outside the list can be used, so ask both questions in writing before you commit.

Can I choose my own photographer at Ashridge House?

Ashridge asks couples to pick photographers, videographers, florists, musicians, DJs and fireworks from its approved supplier list. A photographer who is not on the list can still work there after vetting, which includes insurance checks and carries a fee for each supplier. If you would like us to photograph your wedding at Ashridge, tell the wedding team early so the vetting is done well before the day. Flash and drone rules are not published, so confirm those at the same time.

What time does a wedding at Ashridge House finish?

The bar and music run until midnight and can be extended to 1am for an extra charge. Fireworks are set off on the South Lawn, but the venue's pages give two different cut-offs: the weddings FAQ says 22:00 and The House package FAQ says 22:55, which also limits fireworks to weddings in the house rather than Monks Barn and rules them out from late November to early January. Confirm which time applies to your date.

Is there parking at Ashridge House?

The venue describes ample parking on site near the front of the house and asks anyone needing help with parking to contact it in advance. It does not publish a space count or a charge. By train, Berkhamsted is the nearest station, 35 minutes from London Euston, though the venue does not say how far the station is from the house, so plan taxis. By road, Ashridge is off junction 20 of the M25, and with 189 bedrooms on site many guests can stay the night.
