The short answer
Kaushik Bathia has photographed Asian weddings across Surrey for over twenty five years, and couples in Leatherhead choose him for calm, knowledgeable coverage of every tradition, backed by five European Gold awards. We anticipate each ritual, whatever the tradition, so the key moments are never missed. Whether your wedding in Leatherhead is Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim, Tamil or a fusion of traditions, we know the order of each faith's rituals and cover the whole celebration. Handling several hundred guests, a moving baraat and a tight auspicious window all at once is second nature after a thousand weddings behind the lens. You can add a second photographer, a female photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Surrey and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.
Serving Leatherhead
Leatherhead is a Surrey town in the Mole valley. We travel throughout Surrey for Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings, and Ashtead, Bookham and Fetcham are all familiar to us. We photograph the seven steps of the saptapadi and the couple's first steps as a married pair.
We are at ease with large, multi-day celebrations and intimate ceremonies alike. Every tradition has its own rhythm, and our job is to feel that rhythm and photograph inside it rather than imposing a routine of our own on your day. For a Sikh anand karaj we keep our distance during the laavan, photographing the ragis and the family without a single interruption to the prayer.
Whether your celebration keeps to Leatherhead or spreads across Surrey, we plan the day around your venues. Leatherhead is a Surrey town in the Mole valley, and we know it well, as we do neighbouring Dorking and Reigate. Close to Leatherhead, we have worked at venues including The Drift Golf Club and Effingham Golf Club.
Leatherhead is a town on the River Mole in the Mole Valley district of Surrey. Leatherhead railway station, a junction served by Southern and South Western Railway, roughly 18 miles from London Waterloo. When there is time for couple portraits, Norbury Park, a wooded estate on the edge of Leatherhead crossed by the Mole Gap Trail is a favourite, and The Leatherhead Theatre, a local performing arts venue in the town centre makes a memorable setting.

What we offer
The milni, the blessings and the gatherings, so the whole family is remembered.
For large celebrations, a second shooter covers the baraat and the preparations at once.
Between the rituals we gather calm, considered portraits of you both, made to sit comfortably beside the candid frames.
Every tradition
For Gujarati families we know the hastamelap and the four mangal pheras and photograph each as you keep it. The garland exchange, when the couple meet with the jaimala, is a moment of pure joy we love to photograph. The blessings of parents and elders draw many ceremonies to a close, hands resting on heads in benediction, and we hold those tender moments gently.
For Gujarati families the garba and raas fill an evening with circling colour and movement, and we love following the dandiya sticks and the swirling skirts. We photograph the bridal and groom's preparations with a gentle, unobtrusive eye. From the turmeric of the haldi to the music of the sangeet, the events set the tone for the wedding.

The whole celebration
There is a particular kind of joy in a haldi, all warmth and yellow and gentle teasing, and we photograph it the way it actually happens, unhurried and honest. The henna of the mehndi and the turmeric of the haldi are rich with colour, and we make the most of it.
By the time the dancing starts, we have already learned your family, so the reception frames feel easy and familiar rather than a scramble to catch strangers in the dark. A wedding that moves between temple, hall and reception needs coverage that moves with it, and we handle those transitions so your day reads as one story, not three.
Why choose us
We arrive with two camera bodies, spare lenses and duplicate memory cards, because a wedding gives you no second chance and we take that responsibility seriously. We understand how much the day means, and we photograph it with the care it deserves.
We are used to celebrations spread across several venues, and keep the day flowing between them. We are London-based and travel across Surrey and the wider region for Asian weddings.

Where we travel
We travel happily across Surrey and the surrounding counties for the whole celebration. From our London base the towns of Surrey are an easy and familiar run, and we are happy to travel further afield when your day calls for it.

Good to know
Absolutely. A second photographer joins us for larger Asian weddings in Leatherhead, so nothing is lost when two things happen at once. Big guest lists are covered in full, and the baraat and the preparations are captured at the same time.
We do. After twenty-five years across Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings, the order of events in each tradition is second nature to us, which means we are always where we need to be for the moments that matter most.
Certainly. An engagement or pre-wedding session around Leatherhead offers an easy way for us to become acquainted ahead of the day itself, while giving you portraits in a location you adore. Couples often tell us it leaves them much more relaxed with the camera when the wedding arrives.
Certainly. The nikah, the signing of the contract and the giving of the mehr are photographed with due dignity, as is the warmth of the walima that follows. We remain respectful of your family's customs throughout and provide further photographers should the events take place separately.
Very possibly. Working throughout Greater London and across the country, we tend to be familiar with the venues around Leatherhead, though we happily learn fresh ones too. If a location is new to us, we study it in advance and get there early so we are ready when the day begins.
Absolutely. Fusion weddings are a pleasure to photograph precisely because of their variety. Combining a Hindu ceremony with a register office service, or uniting Sikh and Muslim families, we treat every custom with respect and plan the schedule so neither half of your celebration is short-changed.
The earlier, the better. Because busy and auspicious dates are claimed long in advance whatever the faith, getting in touch early is the wise move. Let us know your date and the events you are planning, and we will let you know our availability straight away.
