For portraits away from the celebration, Sefton Park, a large Victorian public park in the south of the city works beautifully, and The Royal Liver Building on the Pier Head waterfront adds a real sense of place.

From the ijab-e-qubool to the dua, the ceremony tells its own story, and we follow it closely. We know the order of the nikah by heart, so we are always in position for each moment. The exchange of consent and the joining of the two families is captured as it happens.

For many families the mehndi is the ladies' celebration, and a female photographer can cover it with ease. The dholki brings evenings of singing and drumming before the wedding, and we photograph their energy. We capture the family moments around the bride and groom, not just the formal parts of the day.
