Your families settle all of it, not us. So what we ask for at the start is a room plan, not a folder of pretty references.
Consent is settled inside that first conversation as well. Relatives who will stand happily before a camera, and relatives who must not turn up in the set anywhere, are named by someone with the standing to do the naming, and afterwards the topic stays out of earshot of guests. At the nikah table and the walima
Short, quiet, seated: there is little for a photographer to do at a nikah and plenty to wreck. Round the table where the signing takes place there are only a few people, and one angle keeps the paper readable without a lens reaching over the imam's shoulder. Where the camera halts is settled beforehand, and it halts there. The mahr wants no attention at all unless you tell us otherwise.
Everything reverses for the walima. Dining rooms are lit warm and low for a reason, stage lighting adds colour that no white balance can fully undo, and the entrance is the brightest thirty seconds of the evening. Decide that entrance beforehand: from which door, at what pace, with the house lights raised or dropped. Guests will lift phones at that moment, so we plan for a wall of screens instead of against it. Outdoors and in the dark, rukhsati finishes things, and out there a small handheld light beats anything bolted to a camera.
