The short answer
Your wedding photographer in Rugby, at a glance
Kaushik Bathia is an award winning wedding photographer based in London, with over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations behind him, and travels to Rugby and throughout Warwickshire. Rather than directing every scene, we let your day breathe and photograph it as it happens, stepping in gently only when a group shot needs a little order. Whatever your wedding looks like in Rugby, a church service, a register office, a country house, a barn or a hotel, and whatever your traditions, we photograph the whole day as it happens. Fellowships of both the BIPP and the MPA are assessed on submitted panels of work rather than years served, which is a harder test than it sounds and a useful one for couples. A second photographer, relaxed engagement shoots and hand finished fine art albums are all available, and we travel across Warwickshire and the wider UK so distance is never a problem.
Rugby School, where the game of rugby football began in 1823, is the landmark every visitor recognises and the reason this Warwickshire market town's name travels further than its size suggests. For a wedding, the practical centre is elsewhere: Caldecott Park is a landscaped Victorian park in the middle of town, close enough that a portrait trip costs ten minutes each way, which is often the difference between doing it and skipping it. Ashton Lodge Country House and Bourton Hall both sit in their own grounds outside the centre, so a single site day is the norm and the light plan follows the building's aspect rather than a map. Rugby station is on the West Coast Main Line with services towards London Euston and Birmingham, and the M6, M1 and M45 all pass close, so guests from Bilton, Dunchurch and Long Lawford arrive easily.
Serving Rugby
Photographing weddings across Rugby
A wedding is a small legal event wrapped in a large social one. The registrar's part is over quickly, and virtually everything worth photographing sits either before it or long after. Spend your coverage accordingly. Two frames and a look will cover the signing, while the run-up and the long afternoon behind it hold the day proper, and that is where booked hours ought to sit.
Your licensed room comes from whatever the building already has, so its capacity limits the guest list and its windows fix the light at your allotted hour. Nothing in the bag changes either fact. Which room, and at what time: settle that question first. Practice varies between registrars over what freedom of movement a photographer is given once proceedings begin, so ask yours directly, then tell us what was said. We work inside that and never argue it in front of guests.

Every kind of wedding
Church, register office or marquee, we cover it all
Three buildings, three separate problems. A church is dark at floor level and bright at the windows, so the exposure belongs to the faces and the glass is left to burn out. A licensed room is small, usually lit from one wall, and any mirror in it will find a camera unless somebody has looked first. A marquee acts as one huge diffuser while sun is on the canvas, then turns into a black tent hung with fairy lights, and the second half needs a plan unrelated to the first.
Time vanishes into the group photographs. Draw the list up in advance and cut it back further than you want to, because every extra line on it costs daylight. One person per family, standing beside us and pointing, moves the whole business along faster than any list read aloud. Speeches are the other trap. A top table with windows behind it turns every speaker into a silhouette, so either we move round it or we lift the faces artificially, and both of those want deciding before guests sit down.

Why choose us
Steady hands when the Rugby day runs behind
Days run late. Ours is the calmest job in the building when they do, because the running order we hold has slack marked in it and a list of what can be shortened without anyone noticing. Anything dropped is mentioned to you on the spot, not discovered later in the edit.

Good to know
Wedding photography in Rugby, frequently asked questions
Yes. Fast glass to begin with, then a lamp on a stand pointed at a ceiling or into a corner instead of at you, which leaves the room looking like the room. Flat grey afternoons are kinder than glaring ones.
It does, for most people. An unimportant hour under a lens settles what we will ask for and what we never will, so the wedding day is not where any of that gets learned.
Yes. Flights and accommodation go on top of the booking, and the work itself is unchanged. Raise it at the outset, since a date abroad has to be blocked out further ahead than one nearby.
Nobody can put one number on that without knowing your hours. Length of coverage, album or no album, the number of buildings the day uses and the distance we cover to reach you all count. A short call settles it.
Usually an agreed run of hours across the day, every edited frame from those hours delivered digitally, and an album on request. Nothing else is bundled in by default, which keeps you from carrying the cost of extras you would never open.
