Serving Lambeth

Beautiful Tamil wedding photography in Lambeth

Lambeth is a south London borough on the Thames. We are used to multi-venue days throughout Greater London, moving smoothly between Southwark, Wandsworth. From Lambeth we cover weddings right across Greater London, at temples, kalyana mandapams and banqueting suites.

We are at ease with large, multi-day Tamil celebrations and intimate temple ceremonies alike. We anticipate each ritual, so the kashi yatra, the oonjal and the saptapadi are never missed. We photograph the sacred and the joyful with equal care, the homam as faithfully as the nalangu.

We travel throughout Greater London for mandapam ceremonies, and Lambeth, a south London borough on the Thames, is one we know well. We also photograph in nearby Lewisham and Merton. Around Lambeth we regularly photograph at Lambeth Assembly Hall, Brunswick House and Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall, among others.

A diverse south London borough stretching from Waterloo to Streatham, with Brixton at its heart and a strong Caribbean heritage. Served by Waterloo and Vauxhall stations and the Victoria and Northern lines. We often take couples to Brockwell Park near Herne Hill and Brixton for a few quiet portraits, and Lambeth Palace, the London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury is a lovely backdrop nearby.

What we offer

Tamil wedding coverage in Lambeth

01

The Kashi Yatra

The groom's playful mock-pilgrimage that opens the ceremony, photographed with all of its humour and warmth.

02

The Nalangu

The playful post-wedding games between the couple and their families, captured with fun.

03

Second Photographers

For large celebrations, a second shooter covers the mandapam and the guests at once.

Every tradition

From kashi yatra to saptapadi

The blessings of the elders and the sammandhi mariyathai close the ceremony, and we capture them with warmth. The thali, tied to the sound of the nadaswaram, is the sacred heart of the ceremony, and we capture it close. We are mindful of every family's customs at the mandapam, Iyer, Iyengar or Sri Lankan Tamil.

The reception is the joyful finale, with the couple greeting hundreds of guests. The celebration often opens with the nichayathartham, the betrothal, and we are there for it. The bride's entrance in Kanjeevaram silk and temple jewellery is a highlight we love to capture.

The whole celebration

Planning your wedding days in Lambeth

Many Tamil weddings begin the day before with the nichayathartham and a mehndi. A South Indian celebration might open with the sumangali prarthanai and the blessings of the family's married women.

On the wedding day, the muhurtham, the mandapam rituals and the thali tying build to the reception. Because the muhurtham is early, we are ready and in position long before the auspicious hour arrives.

Why choose us

Experience that shows in Lambeth

We have photographed South Indian mandapam ceremonies across the country for more than two decades. Couples choose us for our calm presence and our knowledge of every ritual, from the kashi yatra to the saptapadi.

We factor in travel and the early muhurtham start carefully, so we are in position before the nadaswaram begins. We will travel to your temple, your kalyana mandapam and your reception, wherever the maalai maatral and the thali tying take place.

Good to know

Tamil weddings in Lambeth, FAQs

Yes. A pre-wedding shoot is a lovely way to relax in front of the camera before the big day, and we are happy to arrange one at a location you love, whether a favourite spot in Lambeth or further afield.

Yes. We travel to Lambeth and across Greater London for Tamil and South Indian weddings. The muhurtham, the mandapam rituals and the many surrounding events are a speciality, and distance is never a problem for a London-based team used to travelling.

Very much so. The muhurtham, the auspicious hour, sets the pace of a Tamil wedding and is often very early in the morning. We arrive in good time so the kanyadaanam, the thali tying and the saptapadi are all captured calmly and on schedule.

From our London base, Lambeth and the rest of Greater London are an easy, familiar journey. You get a widely experienced Tamil wedding specialist who travels to you without fuss, and who is used to the early starts a muhurtham brings.

Absolutely. The nichayathartham, the mehndi and the sumangali prarthanai are often where the warmest, most natural moments happen, and we are glad to cover them as part of your wedding, with the same care as the ceremony itself.
