The short answer
For couples marrying in Lambeth, Kaushik Bathia offers award winning Asian wedding photography, with more than twenty five years of experience across every tradition and over a thousand weddings behind the camera. We read the rhythm of an Asian celebration and are always in the right place at the right time. Multi day Asian weddings are a speciality in Lambeth, from the pre wedding events and the baraat to the ceremony and the reception, whatever your tradition. You are trusting your one wedding day to us, and we honour that with the steadiness of twenty-five years and a genuine understanding of Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim and Tamil custom. You can add a second photographer, and we are glad to travel across Greater London and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.
Diversity is the point in Lambeth, a borough with strong Caribbean heritage where an Asian celebration sits comfortably alongside everything else. A Hindu sangeet at Lambeth Assembly Hall, a walima at Brunswick House and a Sikh reception in Vauxhall are all plausible in the same month. Lambeth Palace and the Waterloo end of the borough supply the urban backdrop, while Brockwell Park supplies the green one. Northern and Victoria line access means guests from north London are not beaten by the journey.
Serving Lambeth
Lambeth is a south London borough on the Thames. We know the venues of London and the surrounding area well, and move easily between the ceremony and reception across Southwark, Wandsworth. Whatever your family keeps, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati or Tamil, we follow the ritual closely and respectfully.
Fusion weddings that blend two faiths get double the attention, and we make sure both sets of rituals are honoured fully in the coverage and the album. For the jaimala and the joota chupai we stay close to the fun, because these lighter rituals carry as much of the family's character as the solemn ones. The reception is its own event, so we cover the speeches, the entrance and the dancing with the same care we brought to the morning rituals.
Wherever your venues are across Lambeth and Greater London, we plan the route and the timings in advance. Lambeth is a south London borough on the Thames. We also photograph in nearby Westminster and Southwark. In and around Lambeth, we have photographed at venues such as Lambeth Assembly Hall, Brunswick House and Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall.
A diverse south London borough stretching from Waterloo to Streatham, with Brixton at its heart and a strong Caribbean heritage. Served by Waterloo and Vauxhall stations and the Victoria and Northern lines. For pre-wedding and couple portraits, we love spots such as Brockwell Park near Herne Hill and Brixton, with Lambeth Palace, the London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury close by for a striking backdrop.

What we offer
For large celebrations, a second shooter covers the baraat and the preparations at once.
Calm, unobtrusive coverage that captures the day as you lived it, never staged.
Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim and Tamil ceremonies, with the rituals and rhythm of each understood.
Every tradition
Mangal pheras are walked at pace and the priest rarely pauses between them, so we hold our position through all four and follow the couple round with the lens. Consent at a nikah is spoken aloud and sometimes barely audibly, so we watch the bride's and the groom's faces for it rather than the officiant's. At a Gujarati mandap we know the hastamelap and the four mangal pheras, and we photograph them in the order your priest keeps rather than a generic script.
We photograph the milni, when the two families meet, with all of its warmth. A sangeet belongs to the family, all rehearsed dances and gentle teasing, and we keep pace with its energy late into the night. Sangeet performances are rehearsed for weeks and deserve covering properly, so we shoot each act in full rather than grabbing a single frame per dance.

The whole celebration
The mehndi drying overnight means morning hands still carry the pattern, and we photograph them against the outfit while the detail is at its sharpest. Pre-dawn ceremonies in a mandir are lit by lamps and very little else, and photographing them well means knowing how to work at that level of darkness.
Between the ceremony and the reception there is often a great deal of waiting, and we use that time well, gathering portraits and quiet family moments while the room resets. A wedding that moves between temple, hall and reception needs coverage that moves with it, and we handle those transitions so your day reads as one story, not three.
Why choose us
We have built our reputation on reliability, warmth and a genuine love of the work. You learn quickly that a baraat never leaves on time, and after two decades you learn to use the delay rather than resent it.
Reaching your venues is our concern and not yours, whether they sit in London, in Greater London or somewhere along the road between the two. We would travel to Greater London for a single ceremony or for a full weekend of events, and we are happy to discuss either when you enquire.

Where we travel
London-based but seldom in London, we spend much of the year photographing weddings out across Greater London and the counties that border it. We cover the whole of the UK for Asian weddings, so if your celebration is held in Greater London, distance is not a reason to look elsewhere.

Good to know
Many times. Asian weddings bring together dhol drummers, decorators, caterers and entertainers, and we know how to work alongside them without getting in each other's way. Good coordination on the day keeps things flowing, and it means we are always in the right place when something happens. Open air sessions near Lambeth tend to use Brockwell Park near Herne Hill and Brixton.
Absolutely. A second photographer joins us for larger Asian weddings in Lambeth, so nothing is lost when two things happen at once. Big guest lists are covered in full, and the baraat and the preparations are captured at the same time.
Certainly. Tamil and South Indian weddings are well within our experience, from the muhurtham and the tying of the thali to the many customs surrounding them. We know how early these ceremonies often begin and the sequence they take, so nothing catches us unprepared. Around Lambeth we have photographed at Lambeth Assembly Hall and Brunswick House.
We design hand-finished, fine-art albums intended to be kept for generations, with substantial pages and archival printing worthy of an Asian wedding's richness. After laying the story out across your days, we show you a proof before printing, so every spread honours your celebration and your family. Getting to Lambeth is straightforward for us: served by Waterloo and Vauxhall stations and the Victoria and Northern lines.
Yes. Alongside your album we provide an online gallery of your edited images, which you can share easily with family whether they are near Lambeth or overseas. Relatives who could not attend the wedding can then see the day and, where you wish, order their own prints.
Yes indeed. We can start with the mehndi and sangeet earlier in the week and continue all the way through to the ceremony and reception, so your whole celebration reads as one consistent visual story. This applies across Lambeth and Brixton, Streatham and Kennington.
You will receive a preview gallery of favourites soon after the day, with your full edited collection following once we have worked carefully through every event. Multi-day Asian weddings produce a large number of images, so we take the time needed to edit them to a consistent, high standard. Lambeth landmarks we photograph near include Lambeth Palace, the London residence of the Archbishop of Canterbury.
