Jaimala garlands go on and come off again amid a great deal of teasing and lifting, so we shoot in bursts through the whole tussle rather than waiting for one tidy exchange.
The mehndi and sangeet nights are full of colour, music and dancing, and we photograph the garba and raas with the same energy the evening brings to the floor. Chooda ceremony mornings are close and emotional, with the red and ivory bangles slid on by the uncle while the family watches, and we work in tight for the hands and the tears.
