Buckingham is a historic market town on the River Great Ouse and was formerly the county town of Buckinghamshire. Buckingham has no railway station and is served by the A421 and A422 roads linking it to Milton Keynes, Bicester and Banbury. For portraits away from the celebration, Stowe Landscape Gardens, the National Trust gardens about three miles north west of the town works beautifully, and Buckingham Old Gaol, a landmark building in the town centre now used as a museum adds a real sense of place.

For many families the qazi conducts the ceremony, and we photograph it exactly as you keep it. The signatures of the witnesses that complete the nikah-nama are captured with care. The most solemn moments of the nikah are captured from a respectful distance with a quiet long lens.

The music and dancing of the mehndi are pure joy, and we capture every bit of the energy. From the henna of the mehndi to the music of the dholki, the events set the tone for the wedding. The rukhsati, when the bride leaves her family home, is the most tender moment of the day.
