For engagement portraits we would suggest Bourton Park, run by Buckingham Town Council, with the River Great Ouse on one side and ponds on the other, and a fine art album can be added.
Buckingham has had no passenger trains since 1964, so a Sikh wedding here would be a driving day, with the sangat travelling by road between the gurdwara and Stowe House or Swanbourne House. In the darbar hall the coverage does not move: the four laavan, the palla, kirtan from the ragis and the closing ardas, heads covered, shoes off, the Guru Granth Sahib honoured as the living Guru. The reception then opens up, and the doli closes it. Maids Moreton and Padbury lie just outside the town, with Winslow a little further.

A Sikh wedding in Buckingham would usually run across two buildings, which pose two unlike problems. The first belongs to a congregation and is arranged the way it is arranged; we work inside it without altering anything. The second is a room booked by your family, where light is a decision that belongs to you, and therefore to us. One day, one bag, two entirely different jobs.
The changeover gets underestimated more than anything else. Because guests will move by car, the distance between the two rooms costs real time, and no other hour in the day is as unshaped. We use it to reach the reception room ahead of the sangat and find out what that room does with its own lamps before anyone switches them on. In the hall the constraint comes first and the picture second. The floor is where everyone sits, so a standing camera puts you above the whole sangat and it shows; we work low and far back, letting a long lens do the crossing we cannot. Nothing of ours is added to the light. Through the laavan the couple move slowly and continuously, the palla joining them, which is a gift compared with a fast rite: it leaves room to shift side once, and no excuse for four identical rounds.
The granthi, not us, rules on how a lens may approach the Guru Granth Sahib. Have that conversation days beforehand; a doorway on the morning is no place for it. Ragis sit along one side, which usually means a single angle carries the kirtan and no other one will. Afterwards the reception reverses every rule: light can be built and people can be directed. The milni, at the gurdwara before any of this, is worth arriving early for, since it happens outdoors, fast, and between relatives who have not stood together in years.
