Dholki nights are loud, improvised and full of boliyan sung at each other's expense. Where we are invited to cover the evening, we photograph the drum, the clapping and the rivalry between the sides. The walima often closes with a photograph of both families together, and we organise it calmly so every face is kept before the evening ends.
