Sung, not spoken: that is how the four laavan go, and each round closes with the couple circling. The palla is what the frame follows, because it is the visible thread between them. Ardas ends the ceremony and langar follows, and it is over langar that the pictures loosen and families finally talk to one another. Earlier, milni at the door supplies the day's only real burst of noise and embrace. Photograph that hard, because the hall gives you nothing like it.
