Phulkari draped over the bride's head at the doli catches the light beautifully, and we position ourselves so the fabric, the tears and the family behind her all sit in one frame. The milni gifts, the garlands and the sagan exchanged between the families are photographed carefully, because these formalities are the story of two houses becoming one. Turban tying before the baraat is done seriously and slowly, often by an uncle who has done it a hundred times, and we photograph the concentration as well as the finished pagri.
